The committee recommended against passage Monday, but the resolution will get a floor vote later. Supporters say the state could generate millions of dollars in taxes if it legalizes the industry. Opponents say it would worsen gambling problems for a relatively small increase in revenue. A U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 2018 cleared the way for all 50 states to offer sports betting.
