I-94 was closed from Bismarck to Fargo on 2\/22\/2023 to 2\/23\/2023. The public was notified
of the road closure using the DOT website\/app, dynamic roadside message boards, social
media, road closure gates, radio, and television broadcasts. Traffic was parked on the right
shoulder waiting for the road to reopen. At approximately 0930, a 2021 Freightliner was
traveling east on I-94. The truck encountered the gate across I-94 at exit 161. When the
driver saw the gate he tried to stop the truck, but was unable to. The truck struck the gate
extension covering the left eastbound lane, causing damage to the entire gate. The truck
sustained minor damage. The driver was cited with careless driving for driving faster than
