News Aug 22, 2012) \u2014 A Southeast District Court Jury, of eight women and four men, in Jamestown Wednesday began deliberation in the trial of Leron Howard.<\/p>\n<p>Not reaching a verdict Wednesday, the jurors recessed just before 5-p.m., and will continue deliberations, on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Howard is charged with murder and criminal conspiracy in the death of Abdi Ali Ahmed on April 30, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Howard\u2019s court appointed defense attorney, Steve Mottinger, asked the jury to convict Howard of manslaughter during closing arguments.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County State\u2019s Attorney, Fritz Fremgen, said the case fits the definition of murder.<\/p>\n<p>If they find Howard not guilty of murder they would then consider the lesser included charge of manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Abdi Ali Ahmed\u2019s body was found in a road ditch near Spiritwood, on April 30, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Report From North Dakota Highway Patrol, Captain Niewind<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi T.V. News)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 On August 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2012 at approximately 4:45 pm, a NDHP Trooper located a reported reckless driver traveling eastbound on I-94.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The vehicle was a silver, 1999 Hyundai Sonnata, which was reported by other motorists as traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving on the road way from the ditch to the median of the eastbound roadway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When located by the trooper, the vehicle was traveling 95 mph and weaving across the entire roadway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The trooper followed the reckless driver with emergency lights activated for approximately 6 miles (from MM 327 to MM 333), at which time the driver and lone occupant of the was involved in a crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch of I-94 crossing through a wire fence and striking a guardrail on the frontage road that runs parallel to I-94 near MM 333.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The vehicle came to rest in the south ditch facing south.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The driver, 39 year old Karen Goodall, from Jamestown, ND, was transported to Essentia Hospital for minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Ms. Goodall was arrested on scene for Driving Under the Influence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other pending charges include:\u00a0 Driving Under Revocation, Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. Dalrymple\u2019s Office<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. &#8211; (Aug 22, 2012) \u2013 Gov. Jack Dalrymple late Tuesday toured the John Deere manufacturing plant in Valley City where company officials are in the process of hiring about 65 additional workers to meet the plant\u2019s production workload.<\/p>\n<p>The John Deere Valley City Seeding Group currently employs about 320 people.<\/p>\n<p>Plant Manager David Bradford and other John Deere employees led Dalrymple and North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Al Anderson on a tour of the plant which manufactures crop seeders and tillage equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Dalrymple said, &#8220;I was impressed with the plant\u2019s efficiency, the quality of its workforce and with John Deere\u2019s commitment to the community.<\/p>\n<p>John Deere\u2019s Valley City plant is a good example of the innovation and expertise that continues to drive our state\u2019s manufacturing growth while other states are experiencing declines in this important economic sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturing accounts for about 10 percent of North Dakota\u2019s gross domestic product and directly employs about six percent of the state\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Strong market growth, both domestically and internationally, have contributed to North Dakota\u2019s healthy manufacturing economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota lawmakers are supporting big increases in some of the state&#8217;s highway speeding fines.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota has some of the region&#8217;s lowest fines for speeders. They&#8217;re also hard for law officers to calculate without using a chart.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature&#8217;s Transportation Committee on Wednesday endorsed raising the fines and making them easier to figure.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now, someone who&#8217;s caught driving 65 on a 55 mile per hour road is fined $10. Under the new bill, the fine would be $50.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Someone going 80 mph on North Dakota&#8217;s interstate highways would be fined $50, instead of $25.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bill would also allow cities to increase their speeding penalties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo state Representative Ed Gruchalla and assistant West Fargo police chief Mike Reitan say the higher fines will be a deterrent to highway lead foots.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The Democratic candidate for North Dakota governor is proposing an education plan that would include funding for early childhood programs, more scholarship money for college students and a boost in teacher salaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Sen.
