UJ<\/strong> -North Sioux City, SD – The 17th-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team finished play at the United Sports Academy Labor Day Classic with a sweep of Kansas Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-23, 25-16, 25-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamestown (6-5 overall) begins GPAC play next Friday at Northwestern (Iowa) College with a 7:30 PM match time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#17 Jamestown 3, Kansas Wesleyan 0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After fending off a late first-set rally by KWU, the Jimmies hit an even .500 over the final two sets to complete the sweep of the Coyotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lexi Olson<\/a> and Aleah Zieske<\/a> both had 10 kills, while Logan Sherman<\/a> and Peyton Wilson<\/a> each added eight. Olson (.667) and Sherman (.571) each went error-free, while Wilson hit .400 with only two errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lilly Bertsch posted a double-double of 19 assists and 11 digs, and Paige Oswald<\/a> passed out 18 assists. Ellie Holen<\/a> had 14 digs and joined Megan Moser<\/a> with a pair of service aces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UJ outhit KWU .378 to .107, had a 47-40 edge in digs, and had 15 total blocks to the Coyotes’ three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dakota State (S.D.) 3, #17 Jamestown 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jimmies had their four-match winning streak snapped in Saturday’s first match. The Trojans defeated UJ 25-16, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DSU narrowly outhit Jamestown, .204 to .201, and had a 54-49 advantage in kills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleah Zieske<\/a> set a new career-high with 19 kills and recorded a double-double with 13 digs. Lily Bertsch<\/a> also had a double-double of 18 assists and 15 digs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
