{"id":276003,"date":"2023-09-26T08:49:30","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T13:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=276003"},"modified":"2023-09-26T08:49:30","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T13:49:30","slug":"no-16-jimmies-take-down-tigers-in-five-sets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=276003","title":{"rendered":"No. 16 Jimmies Take Down Tigers In Five Sets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>MITCHELL, S.D. <strong>UJ<\/strong> \u2014The 16<sup>th<\/sup>-ranked University of Jamestown women&#8217;s volleyball team held off a comeback by Dakota Wesleyan University, defeating the Tigers in five sets Friday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>After winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-23, the Jimmies lost 24-26 and 19-25 before taking the fifth set by a score of 15-12.<\/li><li>Jamestown had 33 combined kills in sets one and two and hit .250 and .265 respectively to take a 2-0 match lead.<\/li><li>UJ equaled its second set total of 17 kills again in the third, but 11 attack errors dropped the Jimmies&#8217; hitting percentage to .105 for the set.<\/li><li>DWU posted its highest kill total of the match in set four, racking up 14 in 30 attempts while outhitting Jamestown .400 to .182.<\/li><li>The Tigers opened the fifth set on a 5-2 run and would lead 7-4 before UJ won the next 7 points, beginning with a kill by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/hegerle_grace_z5aj\">Grace Hegerle<\/a>, to make it 11-7.<\/li><li>DWU cut the lead to 11-10 with a three-point run only to have the Jimmies answer with three straight of their own.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/olson_lexi_btcl\">Lexi Olson<\/a>&nbsp;only had one kill in the fifth set, but it stopped a back-to-back streak of Tiger points and secured the win for Jamestown.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FOR THE JIMMIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/zieske_aleah_ffwd\">Aleah Zieske<\/a>&nbsp;had a career-best 23 kills and added 16 digs for a double-double.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/johnson_darienne_bgvh\">Darienne Johnson<\/a>&nbsp;tied a career high with 15 kills, hit a team best .421, and recorded five blocks.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/sherman_logan_aipi\">Logan Sherman<\/a>&nbsp;(13) and Hegerle (10) also had double-digit kill totals for UJ.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/oswald_paige_u8a8\">Paige Oswald<\/a>&nbsp;passed out 31 assists and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/bertsch_lily_4q5i\">Lily Bertsch<\/a>&nbsp;25.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/holen_ellie_inc1\">Ellie Holen<\/a>&nbsp;had a match-high 34 digs and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/wvball\/2023-24\/bios\/buddenhagen_tenley_afmo\">Tenley Buddenhagen<\/a>&nbsp;had three service aces.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;FOR THE TIGERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ady Dwight had 22 kills, four blocks, and hit .442.<\/li><li>Kayleigh Hybertson passed out 44 assists and had three aces.<\/li><li>Tya Weideman had 24 digs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jamestown (12-5 overall, 5-0 GPAC) plays at Mount Marty (S.D.)
