{"id":279024,"date":"2024-01-08T08:38:49","date_gmt":"2024-01-08T14:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=279024"},"modified":"2024-01-08T08:43:40","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T14:43:40","slug":"minnesota-wild-4-columbus-blue-jackets-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=279024","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota Wild 4, Columbus Blue Jackets 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Columbus Ohio &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marc-andre-fleury-8470594\">Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a>\u00a0tied\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/patrick-roy-8451033\">Patrick Roy<\/a>\u00a0for the second-most wins in NHL history, making 25 saves in a 4-3 overtime victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fleury and Roy have 551 wins each.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/martin-brodeur-8455710\">Martin Brodeur<\/a>&nbsp;is first with 691.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fleury made a full-extension glove save at the right post on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/yegor-chinakhov-8482475\">Yegor Chinakhov<\/a>\u2019s one-timer from the right face-off circle at 2:51 of overtime.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marco-rossi-8482079\">Marco Rossi<\/a>&nbsp;then scored at 3:04 for Minnesota (17-17-4), which ended a four-game losing streak. He won it with a one-timer in the right circle off a feed from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/matt-boldy-8481557\">Matt Boldy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou know what? I was just happy to win tonight,\u201d Fleury said. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t been working out. We\u2019ve been missing a few guys. We obviously need points in the standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cObviously, catching Patrick is an honor, a guy I looked up to growing up. In the moment, I was happy to get the win here for the boys.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marcus-johansson-8475149\">Marcus Johansson<\/a>&nbsp;tied it 3-3 for the Wild at 18:28 of the third period with a backhand through the pads of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/daniil-tarasov-8476549\">Daniil Tarasov<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal came 12 seconds after Fleury, who was headed to the bench for an extra attacker, scrambled back toward his open net and dove, forcing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/justin-danforth-8479941\">Justin Danforth<\/a>&nbsp;to shoot left of the goal on the rush.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johansson wanted to talk about Fleury\u2019s overtime heroics and not his tying goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat save he made at the end there, it\u2019s fun to watch,\u201d Johansson said. \u201cGood way for him to tie second place. I\u2019m happy for him. Proud of him, couldn\u2019t happen to a better guy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boldy scored two power-play goals and had an assist, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/brock-faber-8482122\">Brock Faber<\/a>&nbsp;had an NHL career-high three assists for the Wild.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/cole-sillinger-8482705\">Cole Sillinger<\/a>&nbsp;had put the Blue Jackets ahead 3-2 at 14:15 of the third on the power play with his third goal of the game, tipping a shot by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/adam-boqvist-8480871\">Adam Boqvist<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cObviously the focus is to win hockey games and unfortunately, that didn&#8217;t happen tonight,\u201d Sillinger said. \u201cI thought it was a good hockey game, back and forth. There&#8217;s a lot of special teams on both sides. A lot of good looks, high energy. \u2026 It [stinks that] we couldn\u2019t close it off there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boqvist had two assists in his return after missing 13 games with a shoulder strain, and Tarasov made 33 saves for the Blue Jackets (13-19-9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sillinger gave Columbus a 1-0 lead at 8:09 of the first period off a backdoor pass to the crease by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jake-bean-8479402\">Jake Bean<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boldy tied it 1-1 at 14:48, five seconds into the man-advantage.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/joel-eriksson-ek-8478493\">Joel Eriksson Ek<\/a>&nbsp;won a face-off to Faber, who passed across to Boldy for a one-timer from above the right circle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sillinger put the Blue Jackets back in front 2-1 at 17 seconds of the second period after Kirill Marchenko stole the puck from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jake-middleton-8478136\">Jake Middleton<\/a>&nbsp;and fed Sillinger with a behind-the-back pass.<br>&nbsp;<br>Boldy tied it 2-2 at 10:15 with a backhand in the crease.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s been like this all season,\u201d Boqvist said. \u201cWhen we have a lead, you\u2019ve just got to be able to close that down.
