Jamestown – The University of Jamestown baseball team lost its first games at Jack Brown Stadium in 2024 as Morningside (Iowa) University defeated the Jimmies 4-1 and 11-3 on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
THE BASICS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n SCORES<\/strong>: Morningside 4, Jamestown 1; Morningside 11, Jamestown 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n LOCATION<\/strong>: Jack Brown Stadium \/ Jamestown, N.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n RECORDS<\/strong>: Jamestown 25-15 (11-11 GPAC); Morningside 30-14 (17-7 GPAC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jamestown was held to two hits, both by Triston Madison<\/a>, in a 4-1 loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Madison’s one-out double in the bottom of the first advanced Chase Burke<\/a> to third, and a groundout by Jordan Singleton<\/a> allowed Burke to score the first run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After Madison’s third-inning single, Morningside starter Kai Purdy-Burton retired the next 13 hitters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A three-run homer by the Mustangs in the top of the sixth proved to be the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Avery Liestman<\/a> (6-1) took the loss despite giving up only two earned runs over five innings, striking out six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jamestown had a 2-1 lead through three innings, but Morningside would score 10 of the game’s next 11 runs to win 11-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Jimmies pulled in front in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Triston Madison<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Mustangs responded with three runs in the fourth and two more in the second, going on to lead 8-2 entering the bottom of the seventh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alex Alva<\/a>‘s sacrifice fly accounted for UJ’s lone run over the final six innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chase Burke<\/a> had two of Jamestown’s five hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
