The Jimmies won game one at Jensen Softball Complex 3-1, then the Mustangs answered with a 10-6 victory in game two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE BASICS<\/strong><br><strong>SCORES<\/strong>: Jamestown 3, Morningside 1; Morningside 10, Jamestown 6<br><strong>LOCATION<\/strong>: Jensen Softball Complex \/ Sioux City, Iowa<br><strong>RECORDS<\/strong>: Jamestown 29-14 (13-9 GPAC); Morningside 19-24 (13-9 GPAC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/blair_abby_svw5\">Abby Blair<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/lefebvre_mackenzie_p0ea\">Mackenzie Lefebvre<\/a>&nbsp;each drove in a run for the Jimmies in the top of the first. Blair&#8217;s single brought in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/gregg_trinity_5mds\">Trinity Gregg<\/a>&nbsp;and Lefebvre singled home&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/quintanilla_kayla_ampz\">Kayla Quintanilla<\/a>&nbsp;to make it 2-0.<\/li><li>Morningside got on the board in the bottom of the third, cutting UJ&#8217;s lead to 2-1, but the Jimmies got the run back in the top of the fifth.<\/li><li>Quintanilla advanced to third on a single by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/fisher_gracie_nvft\">Gracie Fisher<\/a>, then came home as the throw to get Fisher at second base was late.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/ransome_hope_h6na\">Hope Ransome<\/a>&nbsp;(13-4) went all seven innings in the circle, striking out three and allowing only one run on six hits.<\/li><li>Gregg (4-for-4) and Fisher (2-for-3) had six of the Jimmies&#8217; nine hits in the game.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A four-run fourth inning was the difference as Morningside came back from a 4-3 deficit to record a 10-6 win.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/lefebvre_mackenzie_p0ea\">Mackenzie Lefebvre<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/spaeth_maddie_c1ex\">Maddie Spaeth<\/a>, and Gentry Turin contributed three straight RBI singles to stake Jamestown to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.<\/li><li>After Morningside tied the game in the third, UJ retook the lead during their next at-bat.<\/li><li>With runners on the corners, Turin notched her second run-scoring hit as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/aasen_sidnie_exy8\">Sidnie Aasen<\/a>&nbsp;came home to make it 4-3.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/battistoni_ally_03j0\">Ally Battistoni<\/a>&#8216;s groundout in the top of the fifth scored&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/martinez_samarah_r4nw\">Samarah Martinez<\/a>&nbsp;and the Jimmies cut Morningside&#8217;s lead to 7-5.<\/li><li>A pair of home runs added to the Mustang lead in the bottom of the sixth, putting Jamestown behind 10-5 going into the seventh.<\/li><li>A two-out single by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/schwab_camryn_vc1u\">Camryn Schwab<\/a>&nbsp;accounted for UJ&#8217;s final run in the game and the score ended 10-6.<\/li><li>Schwab, Battistoni, Lefebvre, and Turin each had two hits. Aasen had two stolen bases.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/sports\/sball\/2023-24\/bios\/blair_abby_svw5\">Abby Blair<\/a>&nbsp;(10-7) gave up five runs (three earned) on eight hits in 3 1\/3 innings to take the loss.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Jimmies will be the number six seed for the GPAC postseason tournament and will travel to Fremont, Neb., to join No. 2 seed Midland, No. 3 seed Dordt, and No. 7 seed Doane in the Midland pod.<\/li><li>Jamestown will play Dordt on May 1 with game time TBA.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sioux City, Iowa&#8211;\u00a0The University of Jamestown softball team finished the regular season Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader split against Morningside University.
