West Fargo, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 —\u00a0 A Valley City man was arrested and charged with felony DUI under the state’s new DUI law \u00a0after he alluded police in\u00a0West Fargo\u00a0early Monday about 1-a.m.<\/p>\n

27 year old Anthony Scot Smith was arrested after a minor traffic accident following the chase in West Fargo.<\/p>\n

Police say he tried to out-run them during a traffic stop for erratic driving along Main Avenue.<\/p>\n

Smith’s DUI was a felony under North Dakota law, \u00a0as it was his fourth DUI.<\/p>\n

Smith was also charged with driving under suspension and fleeing from police.<\/p>\n

Smith\u00a0was\u00a0taken to \u00a0the Cass County Jail.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Sanitary Sewer Project, Update<\/p>\n

Sept 30, 2013<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 27, 2013) \u2013 Interstate Engineering reports, a portion of 1st Street SE, near Jamestown Plumbing, is closed to traffic as part of the Jamestown sanitary sewer project. 1st Street SE is closed from a half block west of 7th Ave SE to 7th Ave SE. Work is expected to last until early this week. 7th Ave SE will remain open during this time. Jamestown Plumbing can be accessed via 6th Ave SE.<\/p>\n

In addition, 19th Avenue SE, near the Strata Concrete Yard, will close early this week (Sept 30, 2013.) 19th Avenue SE is expected to close on Monday, (September 30), from the entrance to the Strata Concrete Yard south to 17th Street SE.<\/p>\n

Businesses in the area can be accessed from the north via 10th Street SE. Work is expected to last for about two weeks.<\/p>\n

Crews will also be working in the area of 10th St SE and 15th Ave SE, near the railroad tracks. At this time, no closures are anticipated for this area. However, drivers should use caution. Work is expected to last for about one week.<\/p>\n

The merger with CHS will go into effect on January first 2014.<\/p>\n

General Manager Ken Astrup says employees will be retained under the merger.<\/p>\n

He adds, Dakota Plains Cooperative will operate as a division of CHS.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republicans blame the Democrats and Democrats blame the Republicans and the end result is a government on the brink of a partial shutdown at midnight. House GOP efforts to derail the health care law as part of a temporary spending measure have been rejected by Senate Democrats, who are again expected to vote no today. Some House Republicans say they won’t consider a “clean” spending bill.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Opening statements are scheduled in federal court today for phase two of the trial of BP stemming from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. BP is expected to argue it was properly prepared to respond to the disaster. Plaintiffs’ attorneys contend the London-based oil company ignored decades of warnings about the risks of a deep-water blowout.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CLEVELAND (AP) – A federal trial begins today in Cleveland for a man accused of a $100 million multi-state fraud under the guise of helping Navy veterans. The defendant calls himself Bobby Thompson, but authorities identified him as Harvard-trained lawyer and former military intelligence officer John Donald Cody. He was arrested last year in Portland, Ore., after two years on the run.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LOS ANGELES (AP) – A private jet remains jammed in the burned out rubble of a hangar it crashed into after landing at the Santa Monica airport in California. Rescuers and investigators still don’t know how many were aboard the plane or if there was anyone in the hangar but they say they don’t expect to find survivors.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FLORENCE, Italy (AP) – An Italian court has begun the second appeals trial of U.S. student Amanda Knox in her British roommate’s murder — without the star defendant. Italy’s highest court ordered a new trial after overturning a previous acquittal. The appellate court in Florence is expected to re-examine forensic evidence. Knox is not compelled by law to attend.
