(Aug 24, 2012) \u2014The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday that Pipestem Reservoir is near its normal fall and winter pool elevation of 1442.5 feet.<\/p>\n<p>A reduction in reservoir releases will occur August 27, 2012 resulting in flows of between 0 and 10 cfs.<br \/>\nPipestem Reservoir is currently at 1443.0 feet and is dropping at a rate of less than 0.1 feet per day.<\/p>\n<p>The pool elevation is 0.5 feet above the top of conservation pool.<\/p>\n<p>The reservoir is releasing 40 cubic feet per second (cfs) with inflows of 0 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, August 27, 2012 the gate will be closed resulting in a reservoir release of between 0 and 10 cfs depending on inflow. Jamestown Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1429.9 feet and is releasing 0 cfs.<\/p>\n<p>Inflows are approximately 0 cfs.<br \/>\nWith the reduction in releases, river stages are expected to drop approximately 0.5 feet at the James River at Jamestown gage and 0.25 feet at the James River at LaMoure gage.<\/p>\n<p>River stages on the James River in North Dakota and South Dakota are available on the U.S. Geological Survey website at<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/distribution.mymediainfo.com\/lists\/lt.php?id=fB8JDlVTAV0CAU8AWg1bCk9WVFQAAA8%3D\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">http:\/\/nd.water.usgs.gov\/floodinfo\/james.html<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From Stutsman County 9-1-1 Coordinator, Jerry Bergquist\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; On August 16, 2012, CodeRED performed a two-part test of its emergency notification system in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County Emergency Manager, Jerry Bergquist reports that the first part of the test successfully tested phone line capabilities in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>The second part of the test successfully sent a text and email message to anyone opting in for these services. Currently, nearly 10,500 phone numbers, 450 text phone numbers and 550 email addresses are capable of receiving emergency notifications from the County.<\/p>\n<p>All residential phone lines are already part of the CodeRED database.<\/p>\n<p>However, most business lines, all cell phone numbers, VOIP phone numbers, email addresses, and text message capable phones need to log onto www.stutsmancounty.org to register to receive emergency notifications.<\/p>\n<p>Once on the site, click the link to be directed to the secured &#8220;CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment&#8221; page.<\/p>\n<p>Required information to register includes first and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, and phone numbers to be entered.<\/p>\n<p>An exact address is needed due to the geographically based delivery system that CodeRED uses.<\/p>\n<p>The registration page also allows users the opportunity to sign up to receive emergency weather warnings.<\/p>\n<p>This is an opt-in service only.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone wishing to use this service must register by opting in on the enrollment page, including residential landline phones.<\/p>\n<p>Users have the option to receive alerts anytime the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning, severe weather warning or flash flood warning for the address entered on the enrollment page.<\/p>\n<p>Only users that are registered for the service will receive the message.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, you will only be warned if you live in the warned polygon area that the National Weather Service has issued a warning for.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News \u2013 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a 43-year-old man, from Dazey, died early Sunday (Aug 26, 2012) about 2-a.m., when his vehicle entered a ditch and rolled.<\/p>\n<p>Trooper Sgt Johua Rude\u2019s report says, Jarrod Sherlock was traveling eastbound on paved Barnes County Road 4, about five miles west of Dazey, when the 2006 Dodge 2500 entered the south ditch.<\/p>\n<p>He overcorrected, and crossed the roadway, entering the north ditch where the vehicle rolled several times in a bean field, coming to rest on its wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock was not wearing a seat, belt and was ejected.<\/p>\n<p>The crash is under investigation, by the Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>KCSi-T.V. News (Aug 26,2012)\u2013 Authorities report, an elderly Carrington man reported missing the middle of last week,has returned home.<\/p>\n<p>80-year-old Larry Quesenberry of Carrington, was last heard from on Thursday when he was on his way to Ulen, Minnesota.<br \/>\nHis family says he returned home late Saturday night, not realizing how long he was away.<\/p>\n<p>They say he was exhausted but glad to be home.<\/p>\n<p>They add that he has some signs of dementia.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>KATHRYN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A new road has been completed at Clausen Springs Park in southeastern North Dakota, the final piece of a restoration project after the park was hit by spring flooding in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The 1.5-mile stretch of blacktop winds from the park opening gate around the southern half of the lake to Clausen Springs Dam.<\/p>\n<p>Barnes County Park Board member Bobby Koepplin says the Federal Emergency Management Agency paid most of the $348,000 cost.<\/p>\n<p>Kathryn\u2019s 55 residents fled their homes for a few days in April 2009 after Sheyenne River flooding began to erode the dam\u2019s spillway.<\/p>\n<p>Officials including National Guard soldiers made emergency temporary repairs. Work to rebuild the damaged spillway wrapped up about a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Firefighters have controlled two small<br \/>\nwildfires in the western North Dakota grasslands and are getting a<br \/>\nhandle on a larger one.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Forest Service says the Deep Creek 12 and Sail fires<br \/>\nwere controlled Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Both were northwest of Amidon, and both<br \/>\nwere less than a square mile in size.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Some crews on the Sail fire are being moved to the Deep Creek 2<br \/>\nfire north of Marmarth, which has scorched 7 square miles. That<br \/>\nblaze is 50 percent contained.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All three fires were started by lightning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says a<br \/>\nscam targeting senior citizens is circulating around North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says the Consumer Protection Division has received<br \/>\nseveral reports from senior citizens who received telephone calls<br \/>\non supposed updates to their medical discount plan cards.<\/p>\n<p>The scam artist then asks for personal and financial information.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says people should never give out personal or<br \/>\nfinancial information over the telephone in response to unsolicited<br \/>\ncalls.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0STANLEY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot woman is facing several drug<br \/>\npossession charges after a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 2 in<br \/>\nNorth Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Police stopped 19-year-old Larissa Mason early<br \/>\nThursday morning near Stanley for not having any tail lights. Mason<br \/>\nis being held in the Mountrail County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Some North Dakota lawmakers say they don&#8217;t expect much spending from a state oil tax trust fund, but they should be ready in case it happens.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An advisory board is hiring a consultant for advice on how to invest the oil fund. It was set up by North Dakota voters in 2010, and it already has about $500 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature can&#8217;t spend any of the fund for at least five years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hazen Sen. Randy Christmann is chairman of the advisory board. He says with North Dakota&#8217;s strong economy, he doubts the Legislature will dip into the fund. (AP) &#8211; Furniture from the former warden&#8217;s house<br \/>\nat the North Dakota State Penitentiary is going on the auction<br \/>\nblock.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State law has changed so that the prison warden no longer has to<br \/>\nlive in the house on the west side of the state penitentiary.<\/p>\n<p>The house is set to be demolished in September, and now officials are<br \/>\ntrying to sell the furniture inside.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck Tribune reports that the North Dakota State Surplus<br \/>\nProperty Division offered the furniture to other state agencies.<br \/>\nBut few items were claimed, so now officials are attempting to sell<br \/>\nthe pieces.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Surplus property manager Alan Brinkman says the auction will be<br \/>\nheld at the surplus property warehouse sometime in late September.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D.
