OMAHA \u2013 The North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 5-2 decision at Creighton on Tuesday night at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creighton (24-12, 6-3 Big East) built up a 5-0 advantage over the first five innings following an RBI single from Ben North in the fifth inning. Sam Canton<\/a><\/dfn> sparked the Bison (13-23, 10-7 Summit) with an RBI single up the middle in the sixth frame to cut the edge to 5-1. NDSU continued to apply pressure loading up the bases and adding another run after Canton was hit by a pitch to score Bennett Freiter<\/a><\/dfn> in the seventh inning. However, the Bluejays went on to hold off the Bison over the final two frames to secure the 5-2 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bison totaled seven hits as a team with Jake Schaffner<\/a><\/dfn> going 3-of-5 at the plate with one run. Freiter also logged his first career multiple hit game with two hits and one run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NDSU pitching staff combined to use eight different pitchers with Leland Wilson<\/a><\/dfn> (0-2) making the start with two strikeouts over 1.0 innings. Danny Lachenmayer<\/a><\/dfn> finished out the final frame with three straight strikeouts in the eighth inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
