Monday evening, but the Fire came back to score eight of the game&#8217;s last nine runs, ending the Jimmies&#8217; season with an 8-3 win Tuesday evening in the Klamath Falls Bracket of the 2025 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round at Stilwell Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamestown finishes the season at 36-17 while Southeastern (42-10) remains alive with another loser-out game on Wednesday against Oregon Tech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/kaitlin-mccartney\/18604\">Kaitlin McCartney<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;hit a one-out home run in the top of the second to give UJ a 1-0 lead, then an inning later,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/maddie-spaeth\/18609\">Maddie Spaeth<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;doubled down the left field line to score&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/lauren-weigel\/18615\">Lauren Weigel<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;as the lead grew to 2-0 in the top of the third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southeastern&#8217;s Hailey Brooks hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to tie the game, and the Fire took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ella Brooks hit a two-run double for the go-ahead runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A single run in the fifth and two more in the sixth for Southeastern gave them an 8-2 lead as the Jimmies came to bat in the seventh.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/sydney-grendler\/18602\">Sydney Grendler<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;led off with a triple to center field, then came home on&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/sidnie-aasen\/18596\">Sidnie Aasen&#8217;s<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;single. That would be it for UJ as the Fire&#8217;s Edan Playa retired the final three hitters to finish the complete game win. Playa improved to 20-6 after giving up three runs on eight hits, striking out three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/hope-ransome\/18606\">Hope Ransome<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(13-8) went the first three innings in the circle for Jamestown, giving up five runs on six hits.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/maddie-hairgrove\/18613\">Maddie Hairgrove<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;worked the next 2 1\/3 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits, and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/abby-blair\/18597\">Abby Blair<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;allowed an unearned run in 2\/3 of an inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jimmies had eight hits in the game, two each from Spaeth and Grendler.&nbsp; Four different Southeastern players had two hits as the Fire finished with 12 hits overall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KLAMATH FALLS Ore -The University of Jamestown softball team took an early 2-0 lead against No. 15 Southeastern (Fla.)
