News Oct 10, 2013) &#8212; Boardings at Jamestown Regional Airport, jumped in September this year.<\/p>\n<p>Manager, Matt Leitner says September\u2019s boardings were up 49 percent, over September of 2012, from 171 to 253. He said that was the highest number of boardings for a September, and the second highest number of boardings this year.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the tower for the new airport beacon has arrived on site, and is expected to be installed this Monday. The present beacon, 71 years old will be sent to the Bismarck Air Museum, that is yet to be constructed.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the new runway lighting is installed and will be adjusted.<\/p>\n<p>Leitner said the spring of 2014 is the target date to start construction of nine hangars the first phase of new hangar construction. Current the project is in the planning and design phase, and includes ramp and other lighting.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Requests For Proposals for an Essential Air Service carrier for Jamestown will go out at the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>The carrier would be in place for Jamestown by March 31, 2014. The selected carrier, if different than the present carrier, Great Lakes Airlines, would then have 30 days to have such items as new signage, in place.<\/p>\n<p>He said Great Lakes Airlines may continue, or another carrier could take its place, depending on which airline is selected, under a new contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 10, 2013 \u2013 The Jamestown City Fire Department continues to seek recruits.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Jim Reuther says there are six volunteer positions available, with the goal to fill 8 spots to bring the total to 40 City Fire Department firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>Experience is a plus, however, those accepted will undergo training.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter may contact the Jamestown City Fire Department at 701-252-1441.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 10, 2013) \u2013 The N.D. Department of Human Services\u2019 Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) recently honored several employees for their work assisting North Dakotans with disabilities to obtain employment.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Moldenhauer<b> and <\/b>Debra Carlson<b>, <\/b>Jamestown, were recipients of the Director\u2019s Award for Counselor Achievement. This award highlights the top 10 percent of counselors with the highest number of individuals placed into employment.<\/p>\n<p>Robyn Throlson, Bismarck and Derek Kimmes, Jamestown, were co-recipients of the Exemplary Service Award. This award recognizes outstanding case service to VR clients by showing creative thinking, direct work with multiple agencies, and consistent client follow-up.<\/p>\n<p>Other honorees included:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Katharine Millner and Candace Hanson, Bismarck, were the recipients of the Director\u2019s Award for Counselor Achievement \u2013 Honorable Mention. This award honors counselors who have the second highest number of individuals placed into employment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Jamie Hetrick of Dickinson was honored as the Rookie of the Year. This award honors a VR employee with less than two years of service who exceeds performance goals and displays a high level of community service and involvement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Erik Anthony of Grand Forks was honored with the Director\u2019s Award for Excellence. Anthony was nominated for this prestigious award by his peers for demonstrating dedication, productivity, and dependability to the VR program.<\/p>\n<p>The Career Achievement Awards are based on the number of people with disabilities placed into employment over the course of a vocational rehabilitation counselor\u2019s career. The awards start at the 100 Club award level and increase in increments of 100.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Debra Carlson of Jamestown received the Career Achievement \u2013 500 Club award.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Brenda Satrom of Grand Forks received the Career Achievement \u2013 200 Club award.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Jennifer Moldenhauer of Jamestown and Misty Leuthardt-Riskey of Fargo received the Career Achievement \u2013 100 Club award.<\/p>\n<p>The N.D. (AP) &#8211; A critic of the five Griggs County commissioners who were voted out of office this week says it&#8217;s a victory not only for county residents but also for democratic government.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 John Wakefield says the first thing he and the other four new commissioners plan to do is call for an independent audit to get more information about the actions of their predecessors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commissioners ousted in Tuesday&#8217;s recall election voted last spring to proceed with building a $3.5 million courthouse despite three public votes against it. (AP) &#8211; The state Department of Health says an oil pipeline owned by Tesoro spewed 20,600 barrels of crude oil in a wheat field in northwestern North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Environmental geologist Kris Roberts says the spill was discovered on Sept. 29 by a farmer harvesting wheat.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roberts says cleanup crews have been on site since then and have recovered about 1,165 barrels of oil. A barrel is 42 gallons.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roberts says the spill covers an area the size of about seven football fields. And Boehner said today that Republicans would vote to extend the debt limit for six weeks &#8212; but only if Obama agrees to new negotiations on spending cuts.
