American Red Cross – The American Red Cross is pleased to announce that its \u201cquilts for veterans\u201d project will continue this year. In partnership with Gate City Bank, this project brings care and comfort to local veterans through the warmth of quilts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From September 11 through November 11, local quiltmakers can bring their quilts to a nearby Gate City Bank location<\/a> for drop off. The Red Cross and partners will later distribute the quilts to VA hospitals, homes and stand-down events across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\u2019re proud to continue this valued project supporting our brave veterans and all they\u2019ve given to defend our freedom,\u201d said Karin Luchsinger, senior vice president of Gate City Bank Checking and Customer Engagement. \u201cProviding beautiful quilts like these to help keep them warm is just one of many ways we can express our gratitude for their service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the program\u2019s inception in 2022, quiltmakers in the Red River Valley and beyond have made and donated hundreds of quilts for veterans through this partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis community partnership makes a significant difference in the lives of veterans,\u201d said Kimberly Vosseteig, executive director of the American Red Cross serving Eastern North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota. \u201cPeople across our region are eager to support veterans, especially those who might need an extra helping hand this holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DETAILS ABOUT DONATIONS \u2013 <\/strong>Quilts and fleece blankets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Must be new and\/or made with new materials<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       May be handmade or purchased quilts or fleece blankets<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Preferably 60\u201d x 80\u201d with neutral, masculine or patriotic themes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Since they will be used in hospital and care facilities, they must be sturdy enough to undergo industrial washing and sterilizing process with no loose yarns or strings that could catch on medical equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Quilts and blankets will go home with Veterans upon hospital discharge<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces, together with the Hero Care Network<\/a>, provides military families with emergency communications, connects them to financial assistance resources, and offers mental health support and information services to military members, veterans and their families.
