Mankato MN – The University of Jamestown women’s soccer team showed grit and determination against one of the nation’s top teams but ultimately fell 2\u20130 to Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon at The Pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mavericks broke through in the 27th minute as Meghan Sullivan <\/strong>converted a chance set up by Courtney Kovacs<\/strong> to make it 1\u20130. Despite the pressure, Jamestown stayed organized defensively, with goalkeeper Skylar Lind<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong> making key saves to keep the Jimmies within striking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnesota State extended its lead in the 69th minute when Ruthie Gyasi<\/strong> found the back of the net on an assist from Elan Litt<\/strong>. The Mavericks’ attack was relentless, outshooting Jamestown 26\u20132, but Lind stood tall between the posts, finishing the afternoon with eight saves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offensively, the Jimmies found limited opportunities against the stout Maverick defense. Kuhela Ledward<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong> and Kyah Gabel<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong> both registered shots, while Jamestown continued to press forward late in search of a breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
