News Oct 11, 2013) \u2013 With the Jamestown Sanitary Sewer Project, Interstate Engineering reports that starting on Monday, October 14, 2013, a section of 10th Street SE, near the railroad tracks, is expected to close as part of the Jamestown sanitary sewer project. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>10th Street SE will be closed from the railroad tracks near 15th Avenue SE to 19th Avenue SE.<\/p>\n<p>A detour and flaggers will be in place on 19th Avenue SE. This closure is expected to last for one day.<\/p>\n<p>Updates will be posted online at jamestownsewerproject.com., and CSiNewsNow.com and on The Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2.<\/p>\n<p>Questions on the Jamestown sanitary sewer project can be directed to Darrell Hournbuckle with Interstate Engineering at (701) 252-0234.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The James River Humane Society has received about $3,100 from a recent fundraiser, held by Top Designers, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday\u2019s (Oct 11, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable2, James River Humane Society President, Matt Opsahl said the proceeds were used to install a picture window in the shelter\u2019s cat room.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers from Top Designers then repainted the cat room.<\/p>\n<p>Opsahl said an upcoming fundraiser will be on Saturday October 19, 2013 at the Buffalo Mall from 10-a.m., to 2-p.m., or until gone. Those wishing to donated a baked item may drop it off at 9:30 \u2013 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that donations of cleaning items are always needed, such as laundry detergent cleaning products paper towels, etc.<\/p>\n<p>He noted volunteers are needed at the shelter, including socializing the animals and dog walking.<\/p>\n<p>Presently the shelter has 19 cats and 15 dogs available for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>The James River Humane Society is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit.<\/p>\n<p>The hours are 9- a.m. to noon, and 5:30- 6:30 p.m., daily. (AP) &#8211; Fargo fire officials say a senior center employee suffered minor burns during a kitchen fire put out by a sprinkler.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crews responded to the call about 11 a.m. Sunday. An oil fire had started in the kitchen and two sprinkler heads activated, extinguishing the fire.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the employee took himself to the hospital, and employees were already cleaning up the minor smoke damage and moderate water damage when crews arrived.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Sentencing for a man charged in the starvation deaths of more than 100 horses in Burleigh and Morton counties has been moved to December.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWilliam Kiefer pleaded guilty Aug. 2 to nine counts of Class A misdemeanor overworking, mistreating or abandoning animals.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His sentencing had been scheduled for this month but has been moved to Dec. 5 to allow more time for completion of a presentence investigation and psychiatric evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A status hearing in a North Dakota death penalty case has been cancelled because of the government shutdown.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawyers in the case of Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. were scheduled to meet Nov. 1 in Fargo to update progress of Rodriquez&#8217;s habeas corpus motion, considered the last step in the appeal process. Rodriguez is on death row at a federal prison in Indiana.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A court document filed Friday shows that a status hearing will be scheduled after the government files its answer to the motion. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota legislative committee plans to review aspects of the state&#8217;s strengthened DUI law just a few months after it took effect.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The interim Judiciary Committee will begin holding meetings in the coming months. The committee will look at a provision making refusal to submit to a chemical test a criminal offense and how the bill affects the 24\/7 sobriety program and the state&#8217;s drug court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sen. David Hogue, the committee&#8217;s chairman, says he&#8217;s heard from attorneys that drivers could be charged for refusing a chemical test, and later charged at the police station if they fail the test.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hogue says the question is did legislators intend to have one driving incident that could constitute two separate criminal offenses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Game and Fish Department is cautioning motorists to be on the lookout for deer as they drive.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wildlife officials say this is the time of year when young deer are dispersing from their home ranges. October through early December is the peak period for deer-vehicle accidents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Motorists are advised to slow down and be cautious after dark. Most deer-vehicle crashes happen around dawn and dusk, when deer are most often moving around.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A law passed by the Legislature earlier this year eliminates the need for a driver involved in an accident with a deer to notify law enforcement authorities if only the vehicle is damaged. Deer-vehicle accidents that involve injury or other property damage still must be reported.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Engineers for the city of Fargo say the community should scrap plans for a $44 million tunnel on a downtown street.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 740-foot tunnel was proposed as part of a flood protection plan in front of City Hall. The city has been forced to put up temporary levees on the street to hold back Red River floodwaters in four of the last five years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOnly 23 percent of about 200 people surveyed during a public comment period liked the idea of a tunnel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The most popular option, receiving 37 percent approval, would shift the street away from the river. The city would pay about $23 million to buy and remove three buildings.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The city commission is scheduled to vote on the issue today.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u3000MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Homeowners in Minot affected by historic Souris River flooding in 2011 can begin applying for grants to help with repair costs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Homeowners who qualify are eligible for up to $10,000 in reimbursements. The application period opened Monday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Certain restrictions apply, but officials say unlike previous flood-recovery grant programs, low-to-moderate income requirements apply to only about half of the federal money available. (AP) &#8211; The Dakota Gasification Co. has submitted an application to state regulators for a proposed urea fertilizer production facility at its Great Plains Synfuels Plant in western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Urea is a granular fertilization used by farmers. It would be the 10th co-product for the plant that makes natural gas from coal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say urea production requires anhydrous ammonia and carbon dioxide, both of which are produced at the synfuels plant.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dakota Gasification is a subsidiary of Bismarck-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
