Bismarck ND (VCSU) – The Valley City State University cross country team competed in the University of Mary Marauders Open on Friday, Oct. 10. The women’s race was run at 4:00 p.m., followed by the men’s race at 4:45 p.m. on a sunny and 65-degree day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viking men ran an 8K in a field of 31 against four other teams. Senior Mason Brehmer<\/a><\/dfn> led the team in their efforts, taking seventh place running a 26:46.9. Zach Baumgartner<\/a><\/dfn> took 15th running a 27:56.2. He was followed by Viking freshman Kole Albers<\/a><\/dfn>, who took 20th, running a 28:33.3. Tate Minnihan<\/a><\/dfn> finished 22nd with a 28:55.1. Senior Isaac Eichhorst<\/a><\/dfn> took 29th running a 30:04.2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viking men finished fourth of four running against division two competition in the University of Mary, Northern State University, and Minot State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the women’s 6K, the Vikings raced as individuals in a field of 32. The Viking squad of freshmen was led by Frida Barrera<\/a><\/dfn>, who took an impressive fifth place among the Division Two athletes. She ran a 22:29.7. Paiton Flick<\/a><\/dfn> finished in 23rd, running a 25:03.2. Billie Maye Pohlkamp<\/a><\/dfn> took 31st, running a 28:12.9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
