The back-and-forth contest saw the Jimmies build an early lead, only to have the Beavers storm back in the third period to force the extra frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamestown controlled the early stages of the game, taking a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/carter-johnson\/19181\">Carter Johnson<\/a><\/dfn>, his second of the season. Johnson struck again in the second period, finding the back of the net at 14:11 to give the Jimmies a 2-0 advantage heading into the final period of regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third period saw a flurry of goals from both teams. Minot State&#8217;s Colby Joseph cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 7:31 mark. However, Jamestown responded swiftly, with&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/tanner-freed\/19225\">Tanner Freed<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;scoring at 9:04, assisted by&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/matthew-mcintyre\/19189\">Matthew McIntyre<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/tyler-lindal\/19198\">Tyler Lindal<\/a><\/dfn>, to push the Jimmies&#8217; lead to 3-1. The Beavers mounted a fierce comeback late in the period, scoring two power-play goals. Christian Kadolph scored at 11:37, and Jay Buchholz tied the game at 17:06, sending the contest into overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the extra period, Fortin delivered his first game-winner of the season, and 10th of his career, with assists from&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/sully-ross\/19195\">Sully Ross<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/jordan-baranesky\/19185\">Jordan Baranesky<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;to give the Jimmies the hard-fought road victory in front of a crowd of 525.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minot State outshot Jamestown 31-25.
