Jamestown ND – Despite a career-high 31-point performance from\u00a0Allie Berns<\/a><\/dfn>, the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team dropped a 67-58 decision to Northern State University on Saturday afternoon at Harold Newman Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss moves the Jimmies to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC, while Northern State improves to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berns was the offensive catalyst for Jamestown, scoring a game-high 31 points on an efficient 11-of-13 shooting from the field. She also converted 9-of-12 attempts from the free-throw line and grabbed two rebounds in 34 minutes of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haidyn Crockett<\/a><\/dfn> added seven points and a team-high four assists, while Emily Kurkowski<\/a><\/dfn> chipped in with six points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northern State controlled the early stages, taking an 18-12 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 33-22 by halftime. The Jimmies struggled to find a rhythm in the second quarter, managing just 10 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamestown began to chip away at the deficit in the third quarter, outscoring the Wolves 16-12 to pull within 45-38 heading into the final frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jimmies continued to fight back in the fourth quarter. Trailing 57-43 with just over five minutes remaining, Jamestown mounted a 13-3 run. A three-pointer by Hali Savela<\/a><\/dfn> cut the lead to 60-54, and a fast-break layup by Jordan Munson<\/a><\/dfn> brought the Jimmies within four points at 60-56 with 3:17 left on the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Wolves responded with a jumper from Taylor Tool and capitalized on free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Jamestown shot a respectable 42.6 percent (20-of-47) from the floor, Northern State was slightly better at 48.9 percent (22-of-45). The Wolves also held the advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Jimmies 31-24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Megan Counts led Northern State with 17 points and six rebounds. Izzy Moore added 14 points, seven assists, and five steals, while Reagan Rus also finished with 14 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
