David Gruman, age 78, of Fingal, ND, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at his home in Fingal.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 28th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27th from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church.  A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.  The funeral service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.  Traditions Funeral Services, Valley City is assisting the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David was born January 30, 1947.  He was the second of three boys born to Alfred and Agnes Gruman.  He graduated from Fingal High School in 1965.  He served with the the Army National Guard for six years.  During that time, he also drove bus for the Fingal School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November 14, 1981, he married Donna Siercks in Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Together, they farmed outside of Fingal until retiring in 2016.  Their daughter, Elizabeth, was born September 12, 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David was a member of the Fingal Wildlife Club and played on their whist team for many years.  He enjoyed being outdoors and during the summer, if he wasn\u2019t in the field, he could be found tinkering in the shop.  He collected toy tractors and spent part of every Father\u2019s Day weekend at the Lamoure Tractor Show.  David always had a large garden and after retiring, helped Donna with the canning of the garden produce.  She even had him helping with lefse making for holidays and special occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He served on the township board for several years.  He also served on the Holy Trinity Cemetery board and was active in making sure the cemetery was well taken care of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Elizabeth (Courtney Hancock); brother, Robert (Mary) Gruman; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Agnes as well as his brother, Frederick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
