Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 15, 2013) — There was outstanding support for the recent fundraiser in conjunction with the All Vets Club Patriotic Banquet, held Thursday (Oct 10, 2013) at the Club.<\/p>\n

Co-Chair of the event, Nellie Degen says the total amount raised was $41,643.00 which includes a $25,000.00 endowment.<\/p>\n

The fundraising committee, and the All Vets Club appreciates the support of the community and our veterans.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 16, 2013) — The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation has approved a PACE interest buydown for an expansion at Buffalo City Diesel.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s (Oct 16, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, JSDC\u2019s Business Development Coordinator, DeAnn Brunner said, the JSDC will provide a loan of up to $200,000 while the Bank of North Dakota will provide a grant of up to $300,000 to reduce the interest on the loan for the expansion.<\/p>\n

The money loaned by the JSDC is repaid after the original expansion loan is paid off. The original expansion loan is about $350,000.<\/p>\n

She also noted that Jamestown will host a statewide economic development conference.<\/p>\n

The gathering is set for October 28-30, 2013, at the Quality Inn and Suites, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The public is invited to attend and may pre-register on line at www.growingjamestown.com<\/b><\/a>.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Ms Brunner added that the JSDC Board unanimously approved a $75,000 grant to the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation, that is matched by other BCTF funds and used to provide grants to tourism sites and operations in Jamestown and Stutsman County.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – One of the two men accused of killing and dismembering a Sioux Falls man in Bismarck now is accused of assaulting another man in jail.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0 26-year-old Theo Crowe is charged with misdemeanor simple assault. His attorney, Blake Hankey, was out of the office early Wednesday and didn’t immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Burleigh County Deputy Troy Fleck alleges in an affidavit that Crowe punched another inmate in the head Oct. 1, causing a 1-inch cut requiring four stitches. Fleck wrote the other inmate didn’t appear to strike Crowe or fight back.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crowe is being held without bond on a murder conspiracy charge in the May death of John Swain. Crowe has pleaded not guilty, as has his co-defendant, 20-year-old Joshua Clark.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) – A former Missoula woman is charged with parenting interference after prosecutors say she kept her daughter from the girl’s dying father for more than a year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Viola Renee Prazma appeared in Missoula County Justice Court on Tuesday after being extradited from Hettinger, N.D., where she was arrested last month. Acting Justice of the Peace Mike Frellick set bail at $10,000 and said she could not have contact with her now 5-year-old daughter if she was released.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court records say in late March 2012, Stanley Prazma told his ex-wife that he had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease and had between two and five years to live.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Soon after, Prazma said his ex-wife told him she was taking their daughter to Billings for two weeks, but court records say she moved away.<\/p>\n

LEITH, N.D. (AP) – A small southwestern North Dakota town that has been targeted for a takeover by a white supremacist is pursuing a moratorium on new dwellings.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Leith (leeth) Mayor Ryan Schock tells The Bismarck Tribune\u00a0 that the moratorium on new buildings or mobile homes will be put in place until zoning laws can be updated. The city of 24 people has hired a Mandan attorney to do the work.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Craig Cobb has been buying property in Leith and recruiting others with white supremacist views to come there so he can create a voting majority and take control.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cobb has no water or sewer in his home. Officials have unsuccessfully tried to use that as a means to force him out. Cobb says health officials have “false teeth.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man accused of participating in a violent drug trafficking ring in the North Dakota oil patch has pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and weapons charges.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fifty-year-old Brian Dahl, also known as Kodiak, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Bismarck to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and brandishing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Dahl was part of an organized gang that used violence to “enforce loyalty within their crew.”
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents accuse one member of the conspiracy, Jeffrey Butler, of ordering others to kill Robert Osterhout, who was kidnapped in Williston in August 2012 and left for dead in Montana. Osterhout survived the attack.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dahl, who was not among five people charged in the kidnapping, admitted in court Wednesday to dealing drugs with Butler.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota mineral owners have filed 10 lawsuits seeking damages from oil drilling companies for natural gas that is lost when it is burned.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuits seek class-action status to represent mineral rights owners who argue they have lost millions of dollars because oil drilling companies burn off large quantities of gas instead of capturing the byproduct of oil production.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Derrick Braaten, a Bismarck lawyer representing the mineral rights owners, says oil companies should have to pay royalties for flared gas under state law. He says the lawsuits also could be an incentive to encourage oil companies to start capturing natural gas.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oil industry officials have said the key to reducing flaring is to get pipelines in place to handle the gas.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has activated an online service to connect farmers and ranchers needing wetland credits with agricultural landowners who have available wetlands.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Under the Wetland Conservation Act, a farmer can’t drain or reduce a wetland on his or her property without creating or expanding a wetland elsewhere. Farmers also can replace lost wetlands by obtaining wetland credits from a landowner who has eligible wetlands.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Goehring says his department doesn’t participate in the negotiations between landowners. But he says the wetland credits database that can be found on the department’s website at http:\/\/www.nd.gov\/ndda<\/a> can help bring the parties together.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The database was authorized by the Legislature earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Amtrak ridership in Minot has rebounded from travel and depot disruptions following Souris River flooding two summers ago.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For the fiscal year that ended Oct. 1, the Minot station recorded 41,615 passengers getting on or off a train. That’s up significantly from 29,179 passengers in 2011 and 37,169 last year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It’s also slightly higher than the 40,360 passengers in 2010, before the flood.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Amtrak ridership in the recently ended fiscal year fell slightly in the western oil patch cities of Williston and Stanley. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari (mag’-lee-AHR’-ee) says that was due to changes in work schedules in the oil field.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State is the favorite to win the Summit League men’s basketball title this year.<\/p>\n

The Bison received 25 of 28 first-place votes in the annual preseason poll of league coaches, sports information directors and media. All five starters return from last year’s NDSU team that finished 24-10 overall and 12-4 in the league.<\/p>\n

League newcomer Denver got the other three first-place votes and finished second in the poll, followed by South Dakota State, Western Illinois, Omaha, Fort Wayne, South Dakota and IUPUI.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House is urging quick congressional approval of a deal to raise the debt ceiling and end the partial government shutdown. Spokesman Jay Carney says the deal reached by Senate leaders “achieves what’s necessary” to reopen the government, remove the threat of default and move past brinksmanship. Carney says President Barack Obama is looking for Congress to act so he can sign it and remove the threat to the economy.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – The Federal Reserve’s latest Beige Book survey finds economic growth slowed in a few key parts of the country from September through early October. Growth continued at a modest to moderate pace overall, but four of the Fed’s 12 banking districts – Philadelphia, Richmond, Chicago and Kansas City – reported that growth had slowed. Businesses remained optimistic about the future, but many noted increased uncertainty generated by Washington’s budget impasse.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DETROIT (AP) – General Motors is taking an unusual approach to its falling pickup sales: It’s raising prices. The company says the price of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado will go up almost $2,100 over the introductory price in the spring. GM is also raising prices on the GMC Sierra and other trucks. GM says the redesigned trucks can get higher prices because they’re the newest on the market. Industry analysts also predict GM will boost discounts on the trucks, starting next month, so dealers can advertise sales and customers can feel like they got a deal.

(AP) – Officials in California say an Alaska Airlines flight en route from San Jose to Honolulu made an emergency landing in Oakland shortly after taking off today, when the crew reported a possible bird strike. \n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BOSTON (AP) – The sister of a Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR’ tsahr-NEYE’-ehv) has been released after appearing briefly in a Boston courtroom in a counterfeiting investigation. Ailina Tsarnaeva (tsahr-NEYE’-ehv-uh) asked a judge to remove a warrant issued after she failed to appear on a charge of misleading police. Prosecutors say Tsarnaeva picked up a person who passed counterfeit money at Boston’s South Bay Mall in 2010 but was uncooperative when questioned about it.
