The Jimmies built a comfortable lead early before the Wolves erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning, but Jamestown&#8217;s bullpen ultimately held on for the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wolves struck for 14 hits and scored 10 runs in game two to hand UJ a 10-5 defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Game One Summary<\/strong><br>Jamestown jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/benney-benitez\/19302\">Benney Benitez<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;blasted a three-run home run to right-center, scoring&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/adrian-warcken\/19346\">Adrian Warcken<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/trayson-kostial\/19322\">Trayson Kostial<\/a><\/dfn>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Northern State got on the board in the top of the third with an RBI single by Dillon Castellanos to score Kyle Konechne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jimmies answered with a four-run third inning.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jett-nelson\/19332\">Jett Nelson<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;scored on a passed ball, which was immediately followed by an RBI single to right field from&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/melvin-maldonado\/19326\">Melvin Maldonado<\/a><\/dfn>. Kostial then launched a two-run home run to left-center to expand the Jimmies&#8217; lead to 7-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wolves added a solo home run by Collin Lott in the fourth inning, but Jamestown tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Warcken hit an RBI single, and two more runs crossed the plate when Benitez reached on a fielder&#8217;s choice accompanied by a Northern State throwing error, pushing the score to 10-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the top of the sixth, Northern State rallied for seven runs to make it a one-run game. Drew Benson sparked the offense with a two-run single up the middle that scored Collin Lott and Casey Vining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamestown (11-25, 6-17 NSIC) responded in a big way in the bottom half of the fourth. After&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jacob-thomas\/19532\">Jacob Thomas<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;singled,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/melvin-maldonado\/19326\">Melvin Maldonado<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;also singled, and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/trayson-kostial\/19322\">Trayson Kostial<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;was hit by a pitch to load the bases.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ben-patton\/19335\">Ben Patton<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;launched a grand slam to left field, giving the Jimmies a 4-2 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wolves (11-18, 9-15 NSIC) cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth inning on a solo home run to left center by Kyle Konechne. Northern State then broke the game open and reclaimed the lead with a four-run sixth inning. The frame was highlighted by a three-run home run to right field by Benson, putting the Wolves ahead 6-4. They added another run later in the inning when Jack Weidner scored on a throwing error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamestown got one run back in the bottom of the sixth when&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jett-nelson\/19332\">Jett Nelson<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;delivered an RBI single to center field, scoring&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/reese-logsdon\/19324\">Reese Logsdon<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;to cut the lead to 7-5. However, that would be the end of the scoring for the Jimmies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Northern State tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning. Dylan Soulek hit an RBI single to left center to score Easton Rerick, and Konechne later scored on a wild pitch. Zimmer (0-6) took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits with two strikeouts. Hyunwoo Kim started for the Wolves, giving up four runs on 10 hits over 4 2\/3 innings.
