Jerrold R Huckle, 88, passed away while hospitalized on June 15, 2026, in Bismarck, ND, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM in Our Savior\u2019s Lutheran Church, Valley City. He will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jerry was born January 25, 1938, in Valley City, ND to Eugene and Cora (Monson) Huckle. He called Valley City home for his entire life. Jerry graduated from Valley City High School and then Valley City State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Kjelland, on June 21, 1958, at Our Savior\u2019s Lutheran Church in Valley City. Together, they raised their three children: Laurie, Tim and Mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While attending college, Jerry served in the North Dakota Air National Guard and the United States Air Force Reserves. He also worked for Valley City\u2019s Piller Theatre running the movie projector. Following graduation, he began a career in banking and insurance, then co-owned and operated Green Valley Laundry, Mac\u2019s Cleaners, and Vogue Cleaners until retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a young man, Jerry was active in Jaycees and the Valley City Elks Lodge where he served as Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed photography, World War II history and traveling with his wife. He loved his family, the Green Bay Packers, and UND Hockey. Time spent with his coffee group was a highlight of his day. Jerry was extremely proud of his lifelong membership at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where he faithfully ushered for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; and a sister, Dorothy Ann (Huckle) Berg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (George) Sheldon of Washburn, ND; sons, Tim (Joanne) Huckle of Wickenburg, AZ and Mark (Dawn) Huckle of Papillion, NE; grandchildren, James Sheldon, Michael Sheldon, Erin (Ryan) VanHattum, Natalie (Ryan) Smith, Emily Huckle, Sam (Zoe) Huckle and Katie (Ryan) Sawyer; and his great grandchildren, Hudson VanHattum and Myla VanHattum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditions Funeral Services of Valley City is assisting the family with arrangements. The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.olivernathanchapel.com<\/a>.
