Fargo ND (NDSU) – North Dakota State and Washington State played out a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Dacotah Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NDSU goalkeeper Payton Mulberry<\/a><\/dfn> made three saves to record her first cleansheet of the season and eighth of her career, moving into a tie for ninth at NDSU all time. The Cougars finished with a 12-9 advantage in total shots, but the Cougars didn’t have a shot on goal after the 25th<\/sup> minute of the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cougars generated a few opportunities early, but Mulberry turned aside shots from Maddie Martin, Kate Spangler and Calli Holje with routine saves in the opening 25 minutes to keep the match scoreless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bison controlled the majority of the final 20 minutes of the first half and then came out aggressively after halftime. Morgan Russmann<\/a><\/dfn> put three shots toward goal in the opening five minutes of the second half, including a shot in the 47th minute that was tipped over the bar. NDSU continued to apply pressure, earning four second-half corner kicks and forcing Washington State to defend deep for stretches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NDSU continued to threaten through the entirety of the second half, with Ava Stanchina<\/a><\/dfn> recording a pair of second-half shots, including an attempt in the 88th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russmann led the Bison with three shots, while Stanchina added two. Isabel Garcia<\/a><\/dfn> and Alayna Gleeson<\/a><\/dfn> and Mulberry each recorded a shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bison remain at home Thursday, August 27, when they host Prairie View A&M. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Dacotah Field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
