She has spent the last two and a half years battling cancer.

Darlene was born December 9, 1952 in Cooperstown ND to Arthur and Annabelle (Neva) Talle. She grew up in Sutton ND. In 1968 her family moved to Cooperstown and she graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1970.

She married Jim Fliflet and they made their home in Cooperstown. They had one daughter, Kamy. In 1978 they moved to Wimbledon. This summer they celebrated 56 years together.

Darlene dedicated her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed decorating her home and she kept it spotless. In her spare time, she liked to bake. Everyone’s birthday included a batch of their favorite cookies. She always had fresh baked goods and made sure you never left her house without taking some home.

Her favorite role in life was Grandma. She adored her grandsons. Anything they were interested in she was too. Her family was small and she kept them close. It was a common saying with the grandsons when something unexpectedly worked out perfect or a close call was missed, that it was Grandma’s praying.

Darlene taught through example to love with your whole heart and don’t be afraid to show it. She made sure everyone knew they needed to “give it to God” and the importance of prayer and a personal relationship with the Lord. She showed us if it needed doing, you should get it done and do it right the first time. Keeping things organized just makes it easier and there is no such thing as too clean. And, if it makes you mad enough, maybe swear.

Darlene is survived by her husband Jim of Wimbledon, daughter Kamy (Todd) Timm; grandsons Jake (fiancé Brooke Topp) and Cooper Timm all of Kensal; sister Betty Jackson, Cooperstown; brother-in-law Joel Fliflet (Julie) of Fargo and many nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Art and Annabelle, and parents-in-law Carl and Gladys Fliflet.

Darlene Fliflet, 73 of Wimbledon ND, passed away Thursday, August 27th at Essentia Hospital in Fargo following surgery.
