Hovda was nominated by Sarah Kramer, whose son received care from Hovda during frightening seizures in the emergency department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized program honoring nurses for their compassion and clinical excellence \u2014 values that align with JRMC\u2019s commitment to excellence in patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kramer described Hovda\u2019s clinical expertise, composure and compassionate support throughout her son\u2019s medical emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCrystal \u2026 provided exceptional care throughout this frightening experience,\u201d Kramer wrote in her nomination. \u201cShe responded quickly and skillfully to each situation, ensuring my son received the immediate attention he needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kramer shared how Hovda remained composed throughout her son\u2019s care, working to keep him safe and stable while taking time to explain what was happening.
