Sarah Ann Long, 79, of Gladstone, MO, passed away September 27, 2026, at her home with her husband at her side after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born April 15, 1947 in Jamestown, ND, to Edwin and Leona Moser. She was raised in rural Medina and attended rural schools. She developed an independent and stubborn nature that carried her through life. On October 10, 1969, she married the love of her life, Richard Dale Long, They settled down in Bismarck and began a loving marriage that lasted 56 years. Together they raised a son, Shawn who married Kathee (Szarejko). Grandchildren Logan and Haley came soon after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah worked as a housekeeper for 20 years and took immense pride in her work. She found great joy in babysitting, playing cards, doing puzzles, and playing Wii bowling with her grandchildren. Most of all she loved spending time with Richard wandering around Kansas City wearing matching t shirts or watching their favorite TV shows in matching recliners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and given less than a year to live, Sarah\u2019s characteristically stubborn nature was evident. She fought for four years, passing away on her own terms at home with Richard, ever-present, at her side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is survived by her husband, Richard, son Shawn (Kathee) Long, two grandchildren Logan and Haley, sisters Sally (Ron) Kraft and Clara (Melvin) Heinke, sisters-in-law Barb Moser and Jackie Moser. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and two nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 12, 2026 at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating. Inurnment will be in Medina Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
