Carrie O. Curtis, 83, passed away peacefully October 10, 2026 surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM October 24, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 424 1st Ave S, Jamestown, ND. Burial will follow at Highland Home Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest along with her late husband, Floyd. Carrie was born July 25, 1943 to Carl and Irene Erickson in Fargo, ND. She grew up on a farm near Walcott, ND and graduated from Walcott High School. Carrie attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and graduated with a degree in Secretarial Arts. Carrie married John R. Smith on January 23, 1965 at St. James Basilica Catholic Church, Jamestown, ND. Carrie and John had four children, Daniel, Andrea, Corey, and Scott. On April 8, 1989, Carrie married Floyd Curtis. Together Floyd and Carrie continued to operate Curtis Electric and Safari Lanes Bowling Alley. While at Safari Lanes, Carrie had a special place in her heart for the senior league bowlers and truly loved serving them lunch and visiting with them. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering at St. John’s Lutheran Church and also playing pinochle at Edgewood Vista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrie and Floyd also loved to hunt deer and fish for walleyes together and with good friends where Carrie would often help Floyd “drive” the boat or “call the shot” from the passenger’s seat saying, “The fish aren’t here where its calm Floyd, they are out there where its windy and choppy” or “how the heck did you miss that shot Floyd!” And yes, sometimes she said something else besides “heck”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Floyd and Carrie bought a house in Mesa, Arizona and spent many winters there enjoying the desert sunshine and visits from loved ones. They also enjoyed spending time with the Jamestown retirement community. While in Jamestown she enjoyed tending her gardening and watching her flowers bloom. Throughout her life she also enjoyed the company of their family dogs, Bundy, Brandy, and Breezer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrie was a skilled crafter too who churned out countless latch hook rugs, cross stitch pictures and diamond arts with her steady hands and keen eye for details. She also enjoyed making lefse with her sisters during the holidays and she canned, preserved or pickled just about anything that could be put in a pressure cooker. Carrie was also an excellent cook and card player. On most any Friday night she cooked a delicious meal from scratch for her card playing opponent friends so that they were well nourished for the sometimes-ferocious card games that were to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrie is survived by her siblings Kornell, Ila, Kristie, and Donna; children Daniel (Tammy), Andrea, Corey, Scott, Bruce, and Lisa (Marty); grandchildren Brittany (Mo), Brianna, Joshua (Malin), Brenna (Ben), Emma (Bryson), Jordan, Zoie, Allie (Kyle), and Katie (Colter); great-grandchildren Patrick, Isla, Tommy, Jack, Arlan, Hayes, Noah, Emmett, and Natalie. Carrie is preceded in death by her husband Floyd, parents, Carl and Irene, and brothers-in-law Everett and John, along with her first husband John.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
