News Oct 23, 2013)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 Investigators have concluded that Monday morning\u2019s fire at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City was arson.<\/p>\n<p>The fire \u00a0caused more than one million dollars in damages.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Valley City Fire Chief Gary Retterath and other investigators including the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and North Dakota State Fire Marshals, said, \u201cWe all agreed that it was a set fire at the church.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Retterath\u00a0confirmed the fire was set in a number of different locations in the church.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation continues with federal and state investigators and the Valley City Police Department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Earlier this week, Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson said authorities were looking into the possibility of the fire being related to a late-September string of church burglaries in Valley City, but it was \u201ctoo early to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The church building remains sealed, as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p>A possible reward may be offered, leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for starting the fire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; Members of Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City gathered Wednesday evening (Oct. 23, 2013) to pray outside the church building, heavily destroyed by fire early Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>When Faith Lutheran\u2019s church members gathered Wednesday, they were grieving but also forgiving.<\/p>\n<p>Reverend Jolene Knudson-Hanse told the congregation, &#8220;It doesn\u2019t matter that it was arson instead of an accident that caused this fire \u2026 because God\u2019s goal is peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added &#8220;Much work lies ahead for our congregation, but our fear and anger, we can leave at Jesus\u2019 feet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After, about 300 members of Faith Lutheran\u2019s 900-member congregation shared a meal in the basement of St. Catherine\u2019s Catholic Church.<\/p>\n<p>Faith Lutheran Council President Tory Hart answered questions and said, the church is waiting to hear from its insurance company on fire damages.<\/p>\n<p>Church officials will then decide whether to repair or rebuild the church.<\/p>\n<p>The church will relocate to the former U.S. Department of Agriculture building in Valley City, starting November 3<sup>rd<\/sup>. and will likely be there for at least a year.<\/p>\n<p>He said a firefighter saved the church\u2019s altar book, and church records were mostly saved having been in a plywood cabinet in the office that sustained the most fire damage.<\/p>\n<p>Donation funds for Faith Lutheran Church have been set up at Dacotah Bank and Bank Forward in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 27, 2013:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Service at Trinity Lutheran Church-8:30 am<\/p>\n<p>Regular worship services will be determined later this week.<\/p>\n<p>Donation funds have been set up at both Dacotah Bank and Bank Forward.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Faith-Lutheran-Church-Valley-City\/261439807225930\" target=\"_blank\">Faith Lutheran Facebook Page<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2013 The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating a fight between two men Tuesday evening (Oct. 22, 2013) that led to a stabbing of one of the men at the Hitching Post Bar.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the altercation a 31 year-old man was air flighted a Fargo hospital for treatment a stab wound.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser, says the two men got into a fight at about 11:30 p.m., at the Hitching Post in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>During the altercation, the man was allegedly stabbed with the other man\u2019s personal knife.<\/p>\n<p>No names have been released, and the incident remains under investigation by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and the Jamestown community is invited to participate in the &#8220;Take Back The Night \u00ae, Walk,&#8221; on Monday October 28, 2013, at 7-p.m., at the University of Jamestown, Voorhees Chapel.<\/p>\n<p>The walk is co-sponsored by the University of Jamestown, SAFE Shelter, the Jamestown Zonta Club, and the Jamestown Martial Arts Academy.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, University of Jamestown, Student Advocacy Coordinator, Caleb Grossman said the University is partnering to bring awareness of domestic violence, to the community and to the University campus.<\/p>\n<p>He said the event starts at Voorhees Chapel at 7-p.m., with a speaker, then a walk to the University of Jamestown entrance, where there will be another talk, and then the walk continues.<\/p>\n<p>Also on our show, SAFE Shelter\u2019s, Sexual Assault Services Coordinator, Mary Thysell said the walk has not been held in the Jamestown area for a few years, and this year\u2019s event will help bring a new generation of community support, for victims of domestic and sexual violence, along with awareness.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that in the past year, SAFE Shelter in Jamestown served 90-families, along with 100 children, and 16 sexual violence victims in Stutsman and Foster Counties.<\/p>\n<p>She added the majority of victims are abused by someone they know.<\/p>\n<p>The 24 hour SAFE Shelter hotline is 701-251-2300.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 23, 2013) &#8212; The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation Executive Board has approved selling two condominiums acquired in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>JSDC obtained the condos as partial payment on loans made to Brian Lunde, who originally developed the Zappas building. The condominiums are located on the second floor and the Buffalo City Rotisserie Grill is located at street level.<\/p>\n<p>The condos were each valued at $150,000 in December 2010 when the JSDC took possession.<\/p>\n<p>Great River Energy purchased one condo for $150,000. GRE has rented the same condo, a corner unit, for the past two years for its staff staying in Jamestown while working on the Spiritwood Station coal-fired generating plant and Dakota Spirit AgEnergy.<\/p>\n<p>Fran and Monica Romsdal purchased the second condominium for $145,000. The current residents renting that unit did not make a counter offer and will be given 30 days to vacate the residence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 23, 2013) \u2013 USDA Rural State Director Jasper Schneider, says Phase Two, construction to extend water lines from south of Woodworth to the Medina area, may start next week.USDA Rural Development provided a $1.5 million loan for this second phase.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman Rural Water recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the expansion of water services in the western part of the county. When the project is completed, more than 700 families will be added to the system.<\/p>\n<p>The water is being purchased from the city of Carrington and pumped through Rural Water lines to provide service to Woodworth. The water will then flow from that point to other areas of western Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old girl in Williston for alleged cyberbullying.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 girl is facing felony charges of terrorizing, harassment and hindering law enforcement. Her case is being handled in juvenile court, where proceedings are not open to the public.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police arrested the girl after a three-week investigation. They allege that she sent threatening messages to multiple people online and through text-messaging. Police Det. Amy Nickoloff calls it &#8220;a new way of bullying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FREDERICK, S.D. (AP) &#8211; A fire at a grain elevator in the northeastern South Dakota town of Frederick destroyed about 2,500 bushels of corn. The American News reports that the Tuesday morning blaze at the Frederick Farmers Elevator broke out in a grain dryer, about 35 feet above ground. Fire departments from Frederick and nearby Ellendale, North Dakota extinguished the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A disciplinary panel of the North Dakota Supreme Court says a Fargo judge accused of sexually harassing a female court reporter should be suspended.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Judicial Conduct Commission is recommending that East Central District Judge Wickham Corwin be removed from the bench for two months without pay and cover about $12,000 in court costs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corwin says he is disappointed with the decision by the hearing panel and is hopeful the Supreme Court will reject its recommendation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The judge was accused of trying to start an affair with the woman, who has never filed a formal complaint. A hearing on the matter was held in Fargo in June.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corwin says he believes he should be judged on &#8220;what he said and did, not what someone else imagined.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; While the rest of the nation ages, North Dakota is getting younger.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An analysis of 2012 U.S. Census population estimates found that North Dakota has the largest proportion of 20- to 24-year-olds in the nation &#8211; more than 9 percent of the population. State census office manager Kevin Iverson says North Dakota&#8217;s median age also has dropped from 37 to 36.1 in just two years &#8211; an enormous drop for such a short time window.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Experts say the data is more evidence of how much the state&#8217;s economy has grown, driven by high farm commodity prices and the western oil boom.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Iverson says it&#8217;s a lot easier for young people to go where the jobs are.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. Jack Dalrymple has asked President Barack Obama to declare a federal disaster for the southwestern and south central parts of the state that were hit by an early October blizzard.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A presidential disaster declaration would pave the way for federal aid for the region that was hit by up to 1\u00a0 1\/2 feet of snow and strong winds on Oct. 4-5. The storm caused extensive damages to rural electric infrastructure, roads, crops and cattle herds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Damage estimates so far have surpassed $8 million and do not include agricultural losses.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple has requested federal disaster assistance for Adams, Bowman, Grant, Hettinger, Morton, Sioux and Slope counties. (AP) &#8211; Enrollment at the North Dakota University System&#8217;s 11 colleges and universities dropped by less than a percentage point from last fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The total headcount at the institutions is 48,015 this fall, compared to 48,203 in Fall 2012. That&#8217;s a decrease of 0.4 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Graduate student enrollment increased by 6.7 percent and community college enrollment rose by 0.9 percent.
