Jamestown, ND (KCSi- T.V. News Nov 7, 2013) Officials, Thursday morning, at the University of Jamestown had warned students and faculty via E-Mail to stay in a secure location, as the campus was on lockdown.<\/p>\n

An email to students about 11:15 a.m. from Liz Hunt, UJ assistant to the president, said,<\/p>\n

“We have a troubled student on campus that has gone missing and we are currently searching for him. The police have been alerted. \u2026 We ask that everyone remain on lockdown until further notice.”<\/p>\n

The campus went into lockdown about 11-a.m.<\/p>\n

Polly Peterson, vice president for advancement and business affairs at the University says, an incident had occurred but would not elaborate until the investigation is over.<\/p>\n

A search on the campus involved multiple law enforcement agencies, and continued into the downtown area.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, Police Chief Scott Edinger said, the campus went into lock down, and that “The student made threats to other students.”<\/p>\n

The campus was in lock down for nearly an hour.<\/p>\n

A male, in connection with the incident was taken into custody, without incident, about 11:30 a.m. at the Community Corrections Office, in the 100 block of First Street West.<\/p>\n

Emergency emails to UJ students said police took Robert Flores into custody.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol has another individual, a female, in custody, found back at the University campus outside Taber Hall, about 11:35 a.m.\u00a0 That individual was questioned by law enforcement and released.<\/p>\n

University officials declined to immediately provide more details, citing an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Edinger says the incident is still under investigation, by law enforcement, however there is no danger at this time. He says there could be no charges, or possibly disorderly conduct or terrorizing, charges.<\/p>\n

As of Thursday afternoon, Flores had not yet been charged, as police communicate with the Stutsman County State\u2019s Attorney office in the investigation.<\/p>\n

The University of Jamestown Thursday afternoon issued a statement concerning Thursday’s events.<\/p>\n

“University of Jamestown went into lockdown for approximately one hour this morning after administrators became aware of concerns related to a male student whose whereabouts were unknown.<\/p>\n

Because of the significance of the concerns, administrators notified law enforcement and contacted the campus community via e-mail and emergency text message, requesting that all locate to a place where they were safe. All buildings were locked and the entrances to the campus were secured until the person in question was detained.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the timely response from the local authorities, the individual was located in downtown Jamestown. The individual is being detained off-campus by the proper authorities.<\/p>\n

“The safety and well-being of our campus is of primary importance to us and we will continue to place priority on ensuring that actions such as these are handled with the care and sensitivity they deserve,” says Dean of Students Gary Van Zinderen.<\/p>\n

The campus response was the first of its kind. Communications, the lock-down, and interagency cooperation was effective overall in protecting the safety of the campus community. A continued investigation is proceeding through the Jamestown Police Department and the University is in full cooperation with police officials.”<\/p>\n

Medina, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov 7, 2013) — Authorities were called to a one vehicle rollover accident Thursday afternoon just after 3:30 p.m., on I-94 at mile marker 235.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate two people were injured, with one occupant ejected. Another occupant remained in the vehicle needing possible extraction.<\/p>\n

Called to the scene were Medina Fire and Rescue, Medina Ambulance, and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n

An air ambulance was called to the scene.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol was on scene to investigate.<\/p>\n

Wimbledon, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov.6, 2013) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a one vehicle accident about 2-p.m., Wednesday (Nov 6, 2013) injured one person.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred on a gravel road southeast of Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

The report says a 1993Ford pickup was southbound on 98th Ave SE, approximately 2 miles southeast of Wimbledon, at the junction with 19th St. SE. The vehicle was negotiating a 90 degree curve in the roadway and the driver, 21 year old William Smith, of Valley City, lost control. The vehicle entered the north ditch of 19th St. SE and overturned, coming to rest in the south ditch on its wheels facing south.<\/p>\n

Smith was seat belted and uninjured. The passenger, 19 year old Darian Krueger, of Wimbledon was not seat belted and was injured. She was transported by\u00a0Jamestown Area\u00a0Ambulance Service\u00a0to the Jamestown Medical Center. She was then transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo via Sanford Life Flight. Krueger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation. Once the crash investigation is complete, possible charges will be filed against the driver.<\/p>\n

Rescue crews from the Wimbledon Fire Department called to the scene, used the jaws-of-life to extricate the Krueger from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) \u2014 Eagle Creek Software Services is considering expanding its presence in South Dakota with a second center in Pierre by the end of the next year.<\/p>\n

That would mean up to 175 new technology jobs in the capital city.<\/p>\n

Minnesota-based Eagle Creek already has more than 100 employees in Pierre, providing software services to major corporations. The company also has a center in Valley City, N.D., and is building one in Vermillion, S.D.. Officials expect to make a decision on a second Pierre center early next year.<\/p>\n

Company officials say their “Dakota model” keeps costs low by placing high-tech jobs in rural locations in the northern Great Plains.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A man convicted of setting a south-central North Dakota hotel on fire has been sentence to 46 years in prison.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 52-year-old Allen Thomas was sentenced on Thursday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury convicted Thomas in August of one count of arson and 18 counts of endangering by fire.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He faced up to 10 years in prison on each of the 19 felony charges.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The hotel was destroyed by fire in August 2012. Several people had to jump from second-story windows to escape the blaze. No one was injured.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities said Thomas used a cigarette lighter to ignite a mattress because he was upset that the hotel owners had helped his girlfriend after the two had argued.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Bond has been set at $250,000 for a Fargo man accused of stabbing a man, choking a woman and running over a police officer.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-nine-year-old Jack Christensen faces five charges including aggravated assault. He was arrested early Tuesday following a nearly six-hour standoff at a north Fargo home.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege Christensen struck 25-year-old officer Brent Malone with his van in a laundry parking lot Monday night. Police say Malone was treated at a hospital for a significant injury and was released but will need further medical treatment.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police were looking for Christensen on Monday so they could talk to him about the alleged stabbing and choking incidents.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Monty Mertz did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A California woman has pleaded guilty in federal court in North Dakota to making threats against Minot Air Force Base.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 24-year-old Tiffany Anderson of Lompoc, California called the base from California on November 6th, 2012 and falsely reported there was a bomb on base. Purdon says that on December 20th, 2012, Anderson called an early childhood Head Start program on the base and threatened to shoot children.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Purdon says Anderson admitted to making the threats in an attempt to cause trouble for her former boyfriend, who was an airman stationed at the base. She faces up to 30 years in prison and $750,000 in fines when she’s sentenced next February 3rd.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – An Idaho truck driver involved in a fatal crash in North Dakota has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fifty-eight-year-old Clark Christensen, of Shelley, Idaho is accused in the May 16th death of 21-year-old Megan Shoal, a Minot State University student from Plentywood, Montana.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege Christensen was driving a semitrailer that plowed into several vehicles stopped at a red light just west of Minot because his brakes were not properly maintained. Eight vehicles were damaged or destroyed. Christensen could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony.<\/p>\n

ALEXANDER, N.D. (AP) – State officials are investigating the cause of an explosion and fire at a saltwater disposal site in western North Dakota’s McKenzie County.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The mid-day Thursday incident destroyed 13 storage tanks and resulted in a spill of 270 barrels of oil and 2,440 barrels of saltwater, a byproduct of oil and gas production. One barrel holds 42 gallons.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The spill was contained on site.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKenzie County Emergency Manager Jerry Samuelson says the incident happened at a Mesa Oil Services site about eight miles southwest of Alexander. No one was hurt, though Samuelson says a truck driver suffered an apparent heart attack at the scene.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A northeastern North Dakota farmer has been convicted of terrorizing law officers two years ago but found not guilty of stealing six of his neighbor’s cattle that wandered onto his property and started the unusual case<\/p>\n

Rodney Brossart, of rural Lakota, faces up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced Jan. 14.<\/p>\n

Brossart was arrested after a summer-long standoff in 2011. Authorities say Brossart family members refused to allow deputies on their farmstead and didn’t show up for court hearings. The case drew widespread attention because police used a military-style unmanned drone to conduct surveillance on the Brossart farm.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors earlier dropped charges against Brossart’s wife and daughter. His three sons also are charged with terrorizing. Their trials haven’t been scheduled.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Authorities say a Warsaw man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say 38-year-old John Harry Woolsey Jr. was sentenced Thursday. He was found guilty in August.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Woolsey had been previously convicted in Arizona of three violent felonies for aggravated assault and resisting arrest in 2001 and 2006.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Woolsey loaned the revolver and ammunition to a friend in April 2012. The gun and ammo were later recovered by the Walsh County Sheriff’s Department at the scene of an attempted suicide near Ardoch.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The federal government has given North Dakota $650,000 to expand access to health care in the state.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the funding is being made available by the Affordable Care Act.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota health centers last year served 31,435 patients and 27 percent of them uninsured. The agency says the grant will help care for approximately 2,100 additional North Dakotans by establishing new health center service delivery sites.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nationwide, about $150 million in grants are being awarded to 236 health center programs.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota fourth-graders scored an average of 224 on the 2013 reading test, compared to the national average of 221. Eighth-graders averaged 268, above the national average of 266.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On the math assessment, North Dakota fourth-graders scored an average of 246, compared to the national average of 241.\u00a0 The eighth grade math average score was 291. The national average score was 284.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Tens of thousands of deer hunters are taking to the fields of North Dakota — but the bigger story might be how many are staying home.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state’s deer gun season opens at noon and runs through Nov. 24. The state’s deer population has declined dramatically in less than a decade’s time due to harsh winters, leading to a 30-year low in available licenses this year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 40,000 hunters tried but failed to get a license. But for the 59,500 who did get one, Game and Fish Wildlife Chief Randy Kreil says it should be a good season with mostly favorable weather.
