News Aug 4, 2012) &#8212; The community is invited to celebrate the 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of (Eventide) at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>On the Labor Day edition of the Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Administrator, Doug Panchot said the Hi-Acres 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary, Community Picnic is Thursday September 6, 2012, from 4-p.m., to 7-p.m., at Hi-Acres at 1300 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place, Northeast, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>He added that there will be food and music, including the Spiritwood Creek Band, along with inflatable games.<\/p>\n<p>Panchot said Eventide purchase Hi-Acres from the Rife family in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Administrator, Gary Rife stayed on board for a year assisting with the transition.<\/p>\n<p>Panchot has been the Hi-Acres Administrator for about year.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Hi-Acres Strategic plan for the future includes a renovation and remodeling of the facility, to keep up with changing health care needs in the community.<\/p>\n<p>He said plans include to eventually have two-thirds of Hi-Acres having private rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The renovations are planned to start this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually Eventide is looking to expand the building as well, and provide additional parking.<\/p>\n<p>Eventide also has facilities in Moorhead, Minnesota, and West Fargo, North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) The State Historical Society of North Dakota will make repairs to the historic Stutsman County Courthouse following an inspection that identified moisture as the building\u2019s primary problem.<\/p>\n<p>The society owns the historic 1883 building and received $60,000 in June from the state\u2019s Emergency Commission in to begin interior repairs.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Archaeology and Historic Preservation Division Fern Swenson says repairs already underway will help with the problem, but the workers also need to get some dehumidifiers in the basement.<\/p>\n<p>The emergency funds came after Stutsman County officials voiced concern about the old courthouse\u2019s remaining connections with the new courthouse. (AP) &#8211; A 17-year-old Fargo girl has been treated for<br \/>\nsmoke inhalation after escaping a mobile home fire.<\/p>\n<p>Fargo Assistant Fire Chief Larry Schuh tells the Forum that the girl woke up to the smell of smoke Saturday night and escaped through the bedroom<br \/>\nwindow.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the blaze is under investigation.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Undated\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News)\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a Harvey, man killed Sunday morning in a rollover crash in Wells County.<\/p>\n<p>The patrol says 34 year olf Jason Thomas, of Harvey, was driving northbound on N.D. Highway 30 at 6:50 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Five miles south of Hamberg, , the car drifted east off the road.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas overcorrected and lost control.<\/p>\n<p>The car turned, entered the east ditch, hit an approach and vaulted.<\/p>\n<p>The car rolled an undetermined number of times, ejecting Thomas, and came to rest on its hood.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas was taken by ambulance to Harvey Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>He had not been wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n<p>The car was totaled.<\/p>\n<p>The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minot police say a hotel employee suffered minor injuries early yesterday after confronting a man who was trying to break into cars in the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Police responded to the reported stabbing at the hotel on North Broadway just before 5 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>They say the 26-year-old employee suffered minor injuries from a sharp object used by the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Williston man has been sentenced to<br \/>\nfive years in prison for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.<\/p>\n<p>19-year-old Kristopher Caples pleaded guilty to gross sexual<br \/>\nimposition in March.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared last week in Northwest District<br \/>\nCourt in Williston and was given credit for nearly a year he<br \/>\nalready has served in jail while awaiting sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Authorities say the crime occurred in Oct. 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A new survey says 60 percent of longtime<br \/>\nnorthwest North Dakota residents say they have benefited<br \/>\neconomically from the oil boom but the majority say their quality<br \/>\nof life has not improved.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The University of North Dakota study gathered perceptions of the oil boom by sending surveys to residents of Williston, Stanley and Watford City<br \/>\nwho have lived in their communities for six years or more.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 17 percent said the oil boom has improved their quality of<br \/>\nlife.
