THERE IS A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW FRIDAY AND AGAIN SUNDAY.<br \/>\n\u00a0AMOUNTS ARE FORECAST TO BE LIGHT.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) &#8212; The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Valley City Police and Fire\/Rescue and Ambulance responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident, Monday Morning (Nov 25, 2013) about 4:30-a.m., on a frost-covered I94 at mile marker 292 at Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>The reports says an SUV was eastbound operated by an unidentified 38 year old LaCrosse, Wisconsin man when the vehicle crossed a frost-covered bridge deck. The driver lost control of the vehicle which slid into another pickup pulling a trailer, that was parked on the south shoulder of the highway.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the collision the unidentified 45 year old driver of the pickup from Staples, Minnesota, was standing outside the vehicle re-connecting the trailer and was struck by the SUV and seriously injured. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City and then air-lifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries reported to a female passenger the pickup, nor to an 8-month old child in the pickup who was in a car seat.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the SUV was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>The accident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eldridge (CSi) &#8211; The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called to fire early Saturday that destroyed a rural Eldridge home.<\/p>\n<p>The call came in about 3:50 a.m., to the location about two and a half miles south of Eldridge.<\/p>\n<p>The fire started in the chimney of the home, from a wood burning stove and spread to the attic.<\/p>\n<p>14 Units and seven fire fighters were on the scene until 3-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid with five fire fighters on the scene from 8 a.m. until about 1 p.m., helping to fight the fire in 10 degree weather.<\/p>\n<p>The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office assisted at the scene calling the North Dakota Farmers Union to remove a propane tank that was near the house.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was contained to the house.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>The family\u00a0consisting of \u00a0a mother, father and child, all \u00a0escaped from the home safely. American Red Cross was on scene assisting the family and brought them to a motel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) &#8212; The James River Valley Library System, Development Director, Bill Kennedy is in the process of sending out letters, and E-Mails soliciting support of a new library.<\/p>\n<p>He says about a thousand of the mailings and E-Mails will be sent to a cross section of the Jamestown community, businesses, service clubs and individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The response Kennedy is looking for should start with &#8220;I\u2019m in support of a new library in Jamestown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy says he hopes to get a 5% to 8% response, with why they support a new library and perhaps stories they have to tell as to why a library has been, and is, an important part of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>He adds that the goal continues to be to have support for the on-going effort for a new Jamestown library, and to educate the community members on the importance of libraries and specifically a new library in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>He says that those responding need\u2026not\u2026indicate a choice of location for a new library.<\/p>\n<p>Reponses may be included in blogs, and social media.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy says anyone not receiving a letter or E-Mail may send an E-Mail to him indicating their support. His E-Mail address is<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:billkennedy0@gmail.com\"><b>billkennedy0@gmail.com<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) &#8212; The Valley City holiday, Parade of Lights is set for Friday December 6, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce, Executive, Kay Vinje says the parade starts at 6-p.m., along Central Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Following the parade the Christmas tree lighting will take place at N.P. Park.<\/p>\n<p>After those festivities a Christmas movie will be shown at 7-p.m., at the Vault.<\/p>\n<p>She points out that pictures with Santa, available at Dutton\u2019s Parlor.<\/p>\n<p>Bring your own camera for picture taking.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) A river bank erosion study of the Sheyenne River in Valley City,<\/p>\n<p>shows two major flooding events along with Devils Lake water being released in the summer months have all combined to cause damage to the river bank.<\/p>\n<p>The study by engineers from URS Corporation is completed.<\/p>\n<p>The Valley City commission previously approved of spending $60,000 for the comprehensive study of the Sheyenne River banks.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Commissioner Madaline Luke says the results will be available on the city of Valley City\u2019s website in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Farmers Union members have elected a new president.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mark Watne (WAHT&#8217;-nee), of Jamestown, was elected during the group&#8217;s convention in Minot over the weekend. Watne is a longtime Farmers Union member who farms in the Velva area.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Watne succeeds Elwood &#8220;Woody&#8221; Barth, who had been president since 2011. Bob Kuylen retains his position as vice president.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Farmers Union has about 40,000 family members. About 700 people registered for the annual convention.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An Underwood farmer has been re-elected president of the North Dakota Farm Bureau.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Doyle Johannes was chosen for his second two-year term over the weekend during the organization&#8217;s annual meeting in Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota Farm Bureau officials say the farm advocacy organization has more than 27,000 members.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Johannes and his wife, Patsy, have a diversified small grain and row crop farm near Underwood. They also operate a custom feedlot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wolford farmer Chris Brossart was elected to serve his second two-year term as the group&#8217;s vice president.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities are looking for a person who held up a convenience store in Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the robber entered a Valley Dairy store shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, displayed a weapon and demanded money.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police did not say if the robber was male or female, or what type of weapon was displayed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police have identified the victims of what they&#8217;re calling a double homicide in the city.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bodies of 23-year-old Samantha Wickenheiser, of Fargo, and 30-year-old Ward Berg, of neighboring Moorhead, Minn., were found outside a north Fargo apartment Saturday morning. Police believe they were stabbed to death.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder but has not been formally charged.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The suspect and victims were acquainted with each other, but authorities haven&#8217;t specified the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Mandan police say a man was arrested for drunken driving after driving into a mobile home.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mandan Police Sergeant Brent Wilmeth says no one in the mobile home was injured but the force of the crash knocked a child off a bed and knocked items out of kitchen cabinets.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wilmeth says the 36-year-old man struck the mobile home at 1:10 a.m. Saturday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He says the family in the home reported the impact felt like an earthquake.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wilmeth says the driver lives about a block from the home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Some residents of northwest North Dakota are lamenting the loss of a more than century-old general store that was destroyed by fire. The Williston Herald reports that the 1804 County Store in the small township of Trenton caught fire and burned to the ground last week. The cause of the fire has not been determined.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a horse found dead near Enderlin shortly after the opening day of deer season likely wasn&#8217;t shot as first suspected.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cass County officials say an investigation by the North Dakota Stockmen&#8217;s Association revealed a 3-inch puncture wound too shallow to be from a gunshot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investigators believe the horse ran into something after being chased by a predator and punctured its own neck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The horse was discovered three days after the deer season opened, lying dead in a small pond with a wound that looked like a shot through the neck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The hose&#8217;s owner, Kim Damsgard of Cooperstown,\u00a0says \u00a0she was relieved to hear the case was not based on a hunting mishap, or in malice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The foundation has been laid for a new diesel refinery in western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck-based MDU Resources Group Inc. and Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Products Partners are building the Dakota Prairie Refinery west of Dickinson. The Bison have never played either team. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota residents are getting an opportunity the next two weeks to discuss issues with officials from the state Game and Fish Department.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency is holding its fall advisory board meetings in eight cities. They begin Monday in Williston and Rolette, followed by Tuesday meetings in Hazen and Anamoose.
