(AP Sept 4, 2012) &#8211; A monthly survey suggests that the continuing drought and lessening export demand for U.S. products are among the <a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/cash-register-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-751\" title=\"cash-register-2\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/cash-register-2-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>drains on the economy in nine Midwest and Plains.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A report released Tuesday says August&#8217;s Mid-America Business<br \/>\nConditions Index remained below growth neutral for a second month.<\/p>\n<p>It rose to 49.7 from 48.7 in July. June&#8217;s figure was 57.2.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The survey of business leaders and supply managers uses a<br \/>\ncollection of indexes ranging from zero to 100.<\/p>\n<p>Any score above 50 suggests growth while a score below 50 suggests decline for that factor.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Creighton University economist Ernie Goss oversees the survey,<br \/>\nand he says supply managers remain pessimistic about future<br \/>\neconomic conditions.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The survey covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri,<br \/>\nNebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OMAHA, Neb.
