\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 motorists that a Travel Alert remains in effect for central and
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 eastern North Dakota. Areas included in the Travel Alert include<\/strong>

\u00a0Kensal (CS\"kensal<\/a>i) Firefighters from Kensal, Pingree, Carrington, the Jamestown Rural Fire dpartment were called to a grain bin fire, in Kensal late Tuesday morning. at the Kensal Farmers Elevator.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called about noon for mutual aid to supply water from their tanker trucks, while Carrington responded late morning.<\/p>\n

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says the fire was spotted by the elevator staff at about 7:30 Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

Kaiser says the fire was smoldering in a wood bin located in the older part of the elevator, which contained an estimated 5,000 bushels of sunflower screenings.<\/p>\n

It consists of weed seeds and other material screened from grain before it is shipped.<\/p>\n

On scene, the firefighters received assistance from the Buffalo Valley Red Cross Chapter from Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Ramsey Rural Water District, which serves the city of Kensal, and the water, tank was at its lowest level.and the tower ran dry for a short time until it caught up.<\/p>\n

The tower serving Kensal has a 50,000-gallon capacity but contained less than 20,000 gallons at the time of the fire.<\/p>\n

No damage estimate was immediately available.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department is warning Jamestown residents of a convicted sex offender that will be changing addresses within the city.<\/p>\n

Elvert Deon Mack will be moving to 613 8th St. Southeast.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee at the Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n

Mack was charged in 2001 when he exposed his genitals to a female with intent to arouse in Waco, Texas.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mack was again charged in 2006 when he forced a juvenile female to engage in sexual intercourse in Burleigh County.<\/p>\n

Elvert Mack is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving his sentence. This notification was issued for public safety and not to increase fear in the community. Anyone harassing, intimidating or threatening the offenders their families employers or landlords are subject to prosecution.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation has sent out surveys, as part of its re-branding process.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s (Dec 3, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund said, the survey was developed by a Tourism Board sub-committee and Red Plum Media, and is being distributed to hotels, restaurants, business people, and Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce groups.<\/p>\n

He added anyone wishing to fill out a tourism survey may call the tourism office at 701-251-9145.<\/p>\n

The survey questions include if Buffalo City Tourism has successfully marketed the Jamestown area tourism message, successfully represented the community image and its assets, along with the importance of various Jamestown sites.<\/p>\n

Swedlund said the surveys need to be returned by December 20, 2013, for review, and the results from Red Plum will be given to the Tourism Board after the first of the year for possible action in the re-branding process.<\/p>\n

On another note, Swedlund said, in January he will attend the National Bus Association Conference in Nashville, along with sports shows in Milwaukee, Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u2013 Senator Heidi Heitkamp will visit Valley City Jamestown, and Edgeley this week.Senator Heitkamp will be in Valley City, Thursday December 5, 2013, at 9:45 a.m., touring the Valley City Head Start Facility regarding the effects of across-the-board spending cuts on students, staff and community.<\/p>\n

BELCOURT, N.D. (AP) \u2013 Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in northern North Dakota and say a man is in custody in connection with the death.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Law officers\u00a0say 29-year-old Joel Sherman died in the Nov. 27 shooting. The circumstances of the death remain unclear.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2013 A Bismarck man and woman accused of locking the woman\u2019s three boys in a basement have been sentenced after pleading guilty to felony charges of child abuse or neglect.

\nKacie Schaeffer was sentenced Monday to 60 days in jail and three years of supervised probation. Her 33-year-old friend, Trevor Runningbear, was sentenced to three years of probation.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two were charged in May after police say a 9-year-old boy reported to school officials that his mother and her boyfriend physically abused him and his 3- and 6-year-old brothers, and locked them in the basement when they weren\u2019t in school.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2013 Cattle ranchers in the Dakotas who were hard-hit by an early October blizzard are better-prepared for the latest winter storm in the northern Great Plains.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Southwest South Dakota rancher Bob Fortune says some cattle were still in summer pastures when the earlier storm hit. He also says ranchers have had some relatively good weather since and have been able to put up hay. He says ranchers are ready for winter, unlike two months ago when the snowstorm hit with surprising intensity.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cattle themselves also are better able to withstand bad weather. North Dakota Stockmen\u2019s Association leader Julie Ellingson says cattle have grown their winter hair coat now, and can withstand harsh conditions.

\u00a0\u00a0BELCOURT, N.D. (AP) – The prosecutor for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa says he has charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting on the northern North Dakota reservation.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tribal prosecutor Bill Marcellais (MAHR’-sehl-ayz)\u00a0says \u00a031-year-old Justin Keplin faces reckless endangerment and assault charges in the Nov. 27 death of 29-year-old Joel Sherman.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was not immediately clear if Keplin had an attorney. He remains in custody pending a bond hearing later this week.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Seventy-one-year-old Fred Fridley Sr. retired from teaching 15 years ago and says now seems like a good time to end his coaching duties. He leaves with a career record of 321-103.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fridley spent 42 of his 48 seasons in Watford City. He led the Wolves to 16 state title games and won nine of them, the last coming in 2008. He was named high school coach of the year four times and national coach of the year in 1997. He has coached more than 100 all-state players, and Watford City\u2019s football field is named in his honor.<\/p>\n
