ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL<br \/>\n\u00a0ACCUMULATIONS AROUND ONE INCH CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH FRIDAY<br \/>\n\u00a0NIGHT.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW WITH MINOR ACCUMULATIONS WILL CONTINUE OFF<br \/>\n\u00a0AN ON THROUGH THE WEEKEND.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) &#8212; At the Frontier Village Association meeting, Thursday there were suggestions for new activities in 2014, at the Village.<\/p>\n<p>Frontier Village Manager Colleen Conley presented a list of ideas for events at the village with cost estimates for each event, requesting $21,175 for items in the proposed budget.<\/p>\n<p>Ms.Conley\u2019s list for 2014 includes the annual Pioneer Days, &#8220;Children\u2019s Days&#8221; two days a month during the summer, which could include activities such as a story time, nursery rhyme day, crazy dog name contest, ugly shirt contest, tea with a princess and square dancing.<\/p>\n<p>Conley assigned a cost of $2,000 for Children\u2019s Days, $3,000 for Pioneer Days and $5,000 for the World Fast Draw Association shooting contest.<\/p>\n<p>The association is also looking at pay increases for the village\u2019s maintenance staff and greeters.<\/p>\n<p>Association President ,Charlie Tanata, reminded members that they are funded primarily by grants administered through the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation, along with local hotel and restaurant use tax revenues.<\/p>\n<p>He points out that any increase in spending the association proposes has to be backed up with facts supporting the need for the increase.<\/p>\n<p>The association approved Ms. Conley\u2019s request to buy a pedal car-type toy fire engine and place a plaque on it honoring Bert Gray, the association\u2019s former treasurer, and City Fire Chief who passed away earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The association supports having the Wild West Players visit kindergarten classes in Jamestown schools to pass out small gift bags with Santa Claus next week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) The Young People\u2019s, Healthy Heart program at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, reminds residents that the &#8220;On The Move,&#8221; programs starts January 1<sup>st<\/sup> and runs through April 15, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Licensed Registered Dietitian at Young People\u2019s Healthy Heart Program at Mercy Hospital Sharon Buhr, explained that On The Move is a physical activity program that encourages people of all ages to set a physical<\/p>\n<p>activity goal. It includes the Walk Away The Pounds indoors activity.<\/p>\n<p>She added that 16 organizations are involved in the program, plus Fitness On Demand, and Curves, and Snap Fitness are making special offers.<\/p>\n<p>Membership can be free, or an option that requires at $12 fee.<\/p>\n<p>The program includes, &#8220;Try-It&#8221; sessions that are offered, plus incentive gifts<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Buhr explained that exercise can reduce the risks of developing various diseases such as Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc, and obesity.<\/p>\n<p>More information by calling 701-845-6456 or on line visit, BarnesOnTheMove.org<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Volunteers from Jamestown Regional Medical Center delivered baskets of Christmas cookies to 11 Telecare clients this past week. The cookies were all provided by the JRMC Auxiliary members.<\/p>\n<p>Telecare is a free service provided by the JRMC Volunteers since 1973. (AP) &#8211; Fire has destroyed two apartment buildings under construction in Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters were called to a complex of four buildings being built on the west side of the city at about 2 a.m. Friday. Two three-story buildings were engulfed and burned to the ground. Firefighters saved the other two.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There were no reports of injuries, and the department says there were no nearby homes that needed to be evacuated.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state fire marshal&#8217;s office was being called in to help determine the cause.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; No one was hurt when a twin-engine airplane aborted a takeoff and slid off the runway at the airport in Dickinson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the pilot realized something was wrong Thursday afternoon, aborted the takeoff and applied the brakes. The Avanti P 180 plane slide to the end of the runway and into a grassy area, losing a wheel in the process.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Piaggio Aero Industries plane was heading to Scottsdale, Ariz., with seven passengers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police are investigating whether a Fargo-Moorhead TV journalist broke any laws while reporting a story aimed at revealing holes in security at area elementary schools.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Valley News Live reporter Mellaney Moore on Wednesday walked around three schools without permission. News director Ike Walker tells The Forum newspaper and KFGO radio that the story raises significant questions about school security &#8211; and the station stands by the story.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Walker tells The Forum that his station was not aware of laws restricting access to schools. In Fargo and West Fargo, city ordinances require visitors to register with the main office. In Moorhead, Minnesota law essentially demands the same of school visitors. Violations are a misdemeanor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Some area school officials say the news report showed poor judgment and a disregard for rules.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man plans to plead guilty to leaving a threatening message at a Fargo synagogue nearly two years ago.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dominique Flanigan, also known as Kadafi Al Sadar, is charged in federal court with transmitting threatening communications and interference with a federally protected activity.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show that Flanigan called Temple Beth El in Fargo and said he had a &#8220;special package&#8221; he wanted to deliver from Hamas.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flanigan is serving time after he was convicted earlier this year on reckless endangerment and criminal mischief charges in Cass County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 24 in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEHN&#8217;-juhm) says a person who never divorced from a valid same-sex marriage in another state could legally enter into an opposite-sex marriage in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Burleigh County State&#8217;s Attorney Richard Riha (REE&#8217;-uh) asked Stenehjem whether a person who was involved in a valid same-sex marriage in another state and never divorced could legally sign a North Dakota marriage application saying he or she was single or never married.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says a person could, since North Dakota does not recognize same-sex marriage as being legal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The county says it received an inquiry from someone wanting to marry in the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Riha also wondered if that person would risk violating bigamy rules in the other state, but Stenehjem declined to interpret another state&#8217;s law.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fargo judge who is facing a suspension over sexual harassment allegations says he won&#8217;t seek re-election.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 East Central District Court Judge Wickham Corwin makes the announcement in a letter to the Cass County Bar Association obtained by The Associated Press. In it, he writes that he has enjoyed the job, but not the publicity.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corwin did not immediately respond to a message left at his office.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corwin&#8217;s term ends December 31st, 2014.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corwin is accused of trying to start an affair with his former court reporter. The woman has never filed a formal complaint but the issue went before a disciplinary panel of the North Dakota Supreme Court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Judicial Conduct Commission has recommended Corwin be suspended for two months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Stockmen&#8217;s Association has begun accepting applications to a relief fund set up to help ranchers who lost livestock during an early October blizzard.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The storm that hit with surprising intensity on Oct. 4-5 dumped up to 1\u00a0 1\/2 feet of snow in southwestern North Dakota. There is no official count of the number of dead cattle, but anecdotal evidence suggests it is in the thousands.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Stockmen&#8217;s Association and the Stockmen&#8217;s Foundation each contributed $10,000 to start the relief fund. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s top oil regulator says the state&#8217;s booming oil production is a lot like a championship stock car race.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms told the Legislature&#8217;s Government Finance Committee on Thursday that if the state&#8217;s oil boom were the Daytona 500, only about 50 laps would be completed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helms says the state &#8220;hasn&#8217;t even had a pit stop year and there are lots and lots of laps left and the car is running great.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota is the nation&#8217;s No.2 oil producer behind Texas. Helms says the state is on pace to surpass 1 million barrels daily early in 2014.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helms says the state has about 10,800 oil wells at present. He says about 7,200 more wells are expected to be drilled in the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Helms told the Legislature&#8217;s Government Finance Committee on Thursday that he expects as much as 90 percent of the state&#8217;s crude will move by rail in 2014. Rail shipments now account for about 60 percent of crude produced in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota&#8217;s oil production is nearing 1 million barrels daily.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helms says oil prices have been slipping since July. He says it costs more to ship oil by rail than by pipeline, but producers are able net about $24 more per barrel by sending it on trains to U.S. refineries, where premium prices are fetched.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota company that has sent thousands of the state&#8217;s winter-hardy cows to Kazakhstan since 2010 has yet to ink a deal this year with the oil-rich country.
