Jamestown (CSi – AP) The North Dakota Legislature passed a law this year that allows fireworks to be sold from the day following Christmas through New Year’s Day.<\/p>\n

Fireworks may be used from 9 a.m. to midnight Dec. 26-30. For New Year’s Eve, fireworks may be used from 9 a.m. Dec. 31 through 1 a.m. Jan. 1<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police says the only place to receive a permit to sell fireworks in Jamestown during this time period is Memory Fireworks.<\/p>\n

Tracy Wolf, along with his wife and son from Bismarck, have opened the Memory Fireworks location in Jamestown, on 24th Avenue Southwest, across from Superpumper, open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Mandan fireworks vendors say they’re pleased with sales over the holidays.<\/p>\n

Britta Knutson manages the Memory Fireworks south of Mandan and says, that business is good and word is just starting to be spread that they are open. She says people are excited about being able to start the new year off with a bang.<\/p>\n

Mandan allows fireworks to be ignited within city limits after 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Across the river in Bismarck, it’s illegal to do so within city limits.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Arts Center reports that in cooperation with R.M. Stoudt, in Jamestown, over $2,000 was raised, for the Arts Center in the “Driven To Give,” event.<\/p>\n

In October R.M. Stoudt offered a test drive in new Lincolns located at the Arts Center, and for each test drive, Lincoln, through R.M. Stoudt, donated $20 per driver to the Arts Center.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive, Felicia has announced the winners of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce awards that will be handed out at the Annual Banquet on Janaury 30, 2014 at the Jamestown Civic Center.<\/p>\n

Each month in 2014 Chamber businesses will nominated, and then selected, as the monthly winner, and from the 12 monthly award winners, a Business of the Year for 2014 will be chosen.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) – An investigation into the September death of a miniature pony near Bottineau concluded it was an accident.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bottineau County Sheriff’s Department and North Dakota Stockmen’s Association’s investigated what appeared to be an intentional dragging death.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But as a result of the probe, charges won’t be filed against the three young people who said they hit the horse that night.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The trio told investigators they didn’t report it because they didn’t want to get in trouble. They said they didn’t know how the horse ended up five miles from where it was hit.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jim Avard of Mandan is a ride captain and assistant state captain for the North Dakota Patriot Guard.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Avard\u00a0says \u00a0between 900 and 1,200 members volunteer their time, talents and resources to honor those who serve.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Patriot Guard members are often recognized as flag-carrying motorcycle riders leading processions, but members don’t have to ride.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group’s motto “Standing By” has been its focus since 2005, when members organized nationally to protect and shield the family of a fallen U.S. soldier from protesters at his funeral.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – President Obama has signed the first bill authored by North Dakota Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer into law.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bureau of Land Management Streamlining Act passed the House on May 15 and the Senate on Dec. 20. The bill includes North Dakota among a list of six states in a pilot project meant to improve the efficiency of processing federal oil and natural gas permits.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cramer says he’s happy that the president “accepted these modest improvements” to the federal permitting process.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Industrial Commission has given backers of a proposed coal-to-liquid fuel plant in western North Dakota a sixth extension of state aid to study the project.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dallas-based North American Coal Corp. says developers asked for the extension because favorable coal legislation and a clear U.S. energy policy is still needed for the $4 billion project to move forward.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North American Coal and Headwaters Inc. of South Jordan, Utah, formed American Lignite Energy LLC in 2007 to oversee construction and operation of the proposed plant.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Industrial Commission in 2007 committed up to $10 million from coal tax collections to determine the project’s potential.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shanahan went 24-40 in four years in Washington, but his greater failure was an inability to restore order and professionalism to a franchise that has often been in disarray for the last two decades.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Redskins finished last in the NFC East in three of Shanahan’s four seasons. The outlier was 2012, when a seven-game winning streak at the end of the regular season won the team its first division title since 1999.

Ryan is 42-38 as the Jets’ head coach during the regular season, and 4-2 in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Jaron Nash poured in a career-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting for UND. Troy Huff added 13, but hit just 3 of 12 from the field as cold-shooting North Dakota shot just 36.9 percent in Greeley, Colorado.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Rookie Cordarrelle Patterson scored two more touchdowns, including the go-ahead catch in the end zone in the fourth quarter, and the Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 14-13 yesterday in the final game at the Metrodome after 32 seasons. Leslie Frazier raised his record with the Vikings in three-plus years to 21-33-1 but faces the possibility that the win could be the last full day with the team. The Metrodome will be torn down next month to make room for a new domed stadium on the same site.<\/p>\n

\u00a0UNDATED (AP) – The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles won NFC division titles yesterday. Aaron Rodgers threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb with just 38 seconds remaining to give the Packers a 33-28 win over the Bears in Chicago. Nick Foles threw for two touchdowns and NFL rushing champ LeSean McCoy finished with 131 yards on 27 carries.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SAN DIEGO (AP) – The San Diego Chargers are in the AFC playoffs for the first time in five years, thanks to losses by Baltimore and Miami. The Chargers rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and beat Kansas City 27-24 in overtime. Nick Novak drilled a 36-yard kick with 5:30 left in OT before the Chiefs were stopped on 4th-and-15 at the San Diego 41.<\/p>\n

AFC North champion Cincinnati had the distinction of eliminating last season’s Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, 34-17.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Eagles captured the NFC East with a 24-22 win over Dallas.<\/p>\n

\u00a0New Orleans is back in the NFC playoffs after dismantling Tampa Bay 42-14.<\/p>\n
