THE COMBINATION OF LIGHT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ASSOCIATED WITH THE VERY STRONG WINDS MAY LEAD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A cooperative weather observer in Streeter reported 2.5 inches of new snow, Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service\u00a0Tuesday morning is \u00a0cautioning residents about\u00a0 blowing snow in central and eastern North Dakota that&#8217;s reducing visibilities to a half mile or less. Parts of South Dakota are getting even worse weather.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation announced at Monday&#8217;s meeting, that the developer of a proposed Microtel Inn in the Interstate 94 Industrial Park has decided not to purchase a lot from the JSDC.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Connie Ova said at the monthly meeting Monday, that &#8220;John Shaw has changed his mind and will not be signing the purchase agreement. He wanted a purchase option rather than a purchase agreement. Shaw said he would look at other options in Jamestown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The JSDC had agreed to sell Shaw Development Group a lot during its September meeting. The purchase agreement included a requirement that construction on the project be complete within two years of the purchase agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ova also says that Dakota Spirit AgEnergy had begun site preparation work for the ethanol plant at Spiritwood. She also announced the Spiritwood Energy Park Association was in the process of finalizing bids for the rail loop project that would serve DSA and possibly other projects at Spiritwood.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Planning Commission may meet with representatives of the JSDC and City Council before the\u00a0 next \u00a0Planning Commission meeting conerning drainage issues.<\/p>\n<p>The Planning Commission talked at Monday\u2019s meeting, whether it had the responsibility for leadership for new development in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Planning Commission,\u00a0 Chairman\u00a0Dave Hillerud,\u00a0 Monday questioned\u00a0why the Jamestown \u00a0City Council had not funded a study of water drainage issues in the area between Walmart and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>The first meeting would outline what the Jamestown City Council expects the Planning Commission to accomplish, while a second meeting define what is needed to facilitate development in southwest Jamestown.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 Valley City School Superintendent Dean Koppelman has announced makeup days, for school days missed in August and January this school year.<\/p>\n<p>Koppelman says to make up the day lost\u00a0 due to excessive heat in the school buildings on on August 28th, there will be school\u00a0on Presidents Day, February 17th<\/p>\n<p>There will be school on March 13th, to make up the school day lost due to excessive cold wind chills\u00a0on January 6th.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Koppelman says, there are two remaining days designated for make-up days and those are Friday, March 14th and Monday, April 21st.<\/p>\n<p>At Jamestown Public Schools the day missed January 6th will be made up on March 13th.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Erin, Reanna and Kaelyn Welken of Valley City announced the establishment of the Steve Welken Memorial Scholarship at Valley City State University. The endowment will provide scholarships for full-time students in their junior or senior year, with majors in Business, Education or STEM.<\/p>\n<p>Erin Welken says, \u201cSteve believed that education was the key to better families and better communities.\u00a0 Through this scholarship we are looking for the next generation of student leaders demonstrating the same characteristics that Steve portrayed in life.\u00a0 Steve\u2019s drive, determination, and desire to learn helped him be a leader in the community and a successful businessman.\u00a0 We are honored to use this scholarship as an opportunity to both remember Steve and give assistance to the leaders of tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gifts from the Welken family, in addition to over 70 of Steve and Erin\u2019s family and friends, brought the scholarship fund total to over $21,000.<\/p>\n<p>An endowed scholarship can be established with a minimum of $10,500. This amount would allow for one $500 scholarship to be awarded each year. To contribute to the Steve Welken Memorial Scholarship or for more information on other endowed scholarships, contact the VCSU Foundation Office at 845-7203.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown,(CSi) <b>\u2014 <\/b>The Jamestown Regional Medical Center Auxiliary made history, when they voted to pay the remaining $12,000 balance of a $70,000 pledge to JRMC Foundation<b>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The pledge began in August 2009 when the JRMC Auxiliary voted to pledge $70,000 to the Foundation to name the JRMC Radiology Mammography Suite. To date, $255,393 has been given to the Foundation for the benefit of JRMC. (AP) &#8211; The National Transportation Safety Board says an oil train that derailed and caught fire near the southeastern North Dakota city of Casselton spilled about 400,000 gallons of crude.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The NTSB is investigating the cause of the December 30th crash. The agency&#8217;s preliminary report says 21 of the 106 cars on the BNSF railway train derailed along with the two leading locomotives. Twenty of the cars were carrying oil and 18 were punctured. Damage is estimated at $6.1 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No one was hurt but the wreck prompted the voluntary evacuation of about 1,400 of Casselton&#8217;s 2,400 residents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A westbound train carrying soybeans derailed first, and a portion of it fell onto an adjacent track carrying the eastbound oil train. (AP) &#8211; An ethanol plant at the southeastern North Dakota city of Hankinson is under new ownership.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Arkansas-based Murphy USA Inc. has sold Hankinson Renewable Energy LLC for $173 million to Guardian Hankinson LLC. The deal closed late last year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Guardian is a joint venture involving Minnesota-based Heartland Corn Products and Chippewa Valley Ethanol, Nebraska-based KAAPA Ethanol and South Dakota-based Dakota Ethanol.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plant Manager Neil Crocker says there will be no changes in staff or operations. He says the transition will be &#8220;seamless.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plant was built in 2008. (AP) &#8211; Preliminary hearings have been delayed for two white supremacists accused of using guns to terrorize residents of the small North Dakota town of Leith (leeth). The Grant County clerk of court&#8217;s office says their hearings have been moved to Wednedsay because of a funeral on Monday that many court officials wanted to attend.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho (AP) &#8211; Two North Dakota men face charges after the Idaho State Police seized 14.6 pounds of marijuana, other drugs and two handguns during a traffic stop. The ISP stopped the van the men were driving shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 86 near American Falls in southeastern Idaho. Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Sewell of New Rockford and 30-year-old Timothy Scott of Fargo remain jailed in American Falls pending a court appearance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota National Guard is celebrating a decade-long partnership with Ghana. Both the 62 first-half points and 105 total points were season highs for the Vikings, who improve their record to 6-10.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Junior forward Russell Robinson posted his second straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Five different Vikings scored in double figures and 12 different Vikings scored in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mac Kroeplin topped the scorebook with 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Aaron Duske scored 14 points and added seven rebounds.
