Minimal damage was reported includin burned beans, as vents were opened allowing the soybeans to drain.\u00a0 Five units and 14 firefighters of the Jamestown Rural Fire Department were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) A former University of Jamestown student, will stand trial in April.19 year old Robert Joe Flores, is charged with terrorizing in a incident in November of 2013, at the University, campus.<\/p>\n<p>The trial dates are scheduled for April 21-22 in Southeast District Court in Jamestown, with Judge Thomas Merrick presiding over the trial.<\/p>\n<p>William Mackenzie has been court appointed to defend Flores<\/p>\n<p>Flores is accused of threatening to commit a crime of violence or act of violence dangerous to human life in an incident that occurred November 6, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>During the time of the incident, that morning, the University of Jamestown campus was locked down as law enforcement officers searched the town for Flores.<\/p>\n<p>He was arrested in downtown Jamestown later that morning.<\/p>\n<p>Flores, lives in Southgate, California, and remains free on a $10,000 surety bond.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC)Business Development Coordinator, DeAnn Brunner says community imput events are planned concerning the City of Jamestown\u2019s Land Use and Transportation Plan.<\/p>\n<p>On January 29, 2014, from 11-a.m. to \u20131 p.m., and 4 p.m. to \u20136 p.m., at City Hall, RDG will be conducting studios. (AP) &#8211; Fire has caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to a business in a Bismarck mall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire officials say an overheated electric motor is the apparent cause of the early Wednesday blaze at BC Bagels in the Gateway Fashion Mall. The fire was in the vent system for the business&#8217;s cooking area, and had started to extend to the roof when firefighters arrived shortly before 5 a.m.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters extinguished the blaze before it could heavily damage the mall, but the fire did send light smoke into other areas of the mall including the food court. Firefighters ventilated the smoke.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Grand Forks man is accused of victimizing teenage girls through a social media website.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police allege that 29-year-old Eric Sansburn created multiple accounts that he used to meet and interact with girls between the ages of 13 and 17.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sansburn faces a total of 18 counts of luring minors by computer, possession of child pornography, gross sexual imposition and sexual assault. All of the charges are felonies. The most serious carry a maximum punishment of life in prison without parole.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sansburn&#8217;s attorney, Tyler Morrow, was out of the office on Wednesday and did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A northeastern North Dakota farmer convicted of terrorizing law officers two years ago has been sentenced to serve six months in jail.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rodney Brossart will spend 2\u00a0 1\/2 years on probation following his jail term.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His three sons, Alex, Jacob and Thomas Brossart, also were charged with terrorizing but have pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of menacing law officers and been sentenced to a year of probation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Brossarts were arrested after the summer-long standoff in 2011 that began as a case of missing cattle. Authorities say family members refused to allow deputies on their farmstead and didn&#8217;t show up for court hearings. The case drew widespread attention because police used a military-style unmanned drone to conduct surveillance on the Brossart farm near Lakota.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fargo man accused of assaulting two Amtrak train conductors while drunk has been sentenced to serve 15 days in jail.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n29-year-old Preston Freeman pleaded guilty this week to misdemeanor simple assault. He will be on unsupervised probation for a year following his jail time.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Freeman assaulted the conductors on Jan. 10 after the train left Grand Forks. The incident forced the train to make an unscheduled stop in Larimore.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities are investigating counterfeit money surfacing in Bismarck and neighboring Mandan.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Bismarck, a bogus $50 bill was passed recently at a Wal-Mart store, and two fake $100 bills were passed at a Foot Locker store. Mandan police say they&#8217;re investigating three instances of counterfeit $20 bills being passed at different businesses.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 U.S. Secret Service is helping with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James says 34 missile launch officers have been implicated in a cheating scandal and three others have been implicated in a drug probe, the latest missteps by those who maintain and operate the nation&#8217;s 450 nuclear missiles.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In all, the drug scandal encompasses 11 Air Force officers across six bases. Of the three missile launch officers involved in the drug scandal, two are at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota and one is at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 James said those involved in the cheating scandal have lost their certification and nearly 200 missile crew members will retake the test.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Sen. John Hoeven says the Department of Transportation needs to speed up its timeline for finalizing new rules on the construction of rail tanker cars.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven&#8217;s comments came after the DOT published an item in the federal register indicating that rules might not be finalized until sometime after January 2015. The timeline was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven says he is concerned that if the DOT doesn&#8217;t provide guidance sooner it will be hard for the oil industry to get newer, safer tankers up and running. He says the industry needs certainty.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New regulations for oil tankers have come into focus after a string of tanker derailments, including one earlier this month in Casselton that led to an evacuation of the town.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) &#8211; The South Dakota Board of Economic Development has canceled a $5 million loan commitment to an idled South Dakota beef plant.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The move was expected, as the loan was contingent upon the completion of construction of Northern Beef Packers and the meeting of certain financial and operational milestones. The Aberdeen company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July and never met those milestones.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commitment was originally made in January 2010 and was extended through March 2014 at the board&#8217;s Feb. 12, 2013, meeting.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investment banking firm White Oak Global Advisors last month submitted the winning $44.3 million credit-and-cash bid for Northern Beef during a bankruptcy court auction in Sioux Falls. The deal has not yet closed, and the new owners have not announced their plans for the facility.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports..<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi &amp; VCSU) &#8211; Valley City State University announces the resignation of head volleyball coach Susan Kolbow, effective January 29, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Kolbow, who coached the Vikings for four seasons, is stepping down for personal and family reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Kolbow says, &#8220;I am thankful for the opportunities that VCSU has offered me and have truly enjoyed my time here. The faculty, staff, and administration have been so supportive and helpful along the way. I have learned a lot about myself and had the chance to work with hardworking, dedicated student-athletes who will go on and shine in their respective paths.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kolbow joined the Vikings in 2010 after starting her coaching career at MSU-Moorhead. He would replace Leslie Frazier, who was fired Dec. 30 after the team finished 5-10-1 this season. Defense officials say it now includes allegations of cheating on certification tests. The ten officers who were said to be targeted in the original drug probe included two who operate nuclear missiles. Officials say the cheating probe involves missile launch control officers in Montana, and that it includes about three dozen people.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) &#8211; Video from a firefighter&#8217;s helmet camera following the crash landing of an Asiana Airlines flight in San Francisco shows rescuers were aware there was someone on the ground outside the plane, before she was fatally run over by a fire truck. In the video, a firefighter with a helmet camera tells the driver of a fire truck that there&#8217;s a person in front of him. A fire truck-mounted camera shows a firefighter directing the truck away from the 16-year-old girl (Ye Meng Yuan). A TV station says it obtained the video from a person close to the girl&#8217;s family. Her parents have filed a claim against the city of San Francisco. Three Chinese teenagers were killed in the July crash.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Parents won&#8217;t have to worry as much about their kids spending money without their permission while using an app on an iPhone or iPad. Under a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, Apple is going to have to make it more obvious that an actual purchase, with actual money, is taking place. The company is also agreeing to refund at least $32.5 million to people whose kids made purchases that they didn&#8217;t authorize while playing with an app.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; Both liberals and conservatives on the U.S. Supreme Court appear to have some doubts about a 35-foot zone around Massachusetts abortion clinics in which protesters aren&#8217;t allowed.
