\u00a0\"\"<\/a>Jamestown, ND \u2014 The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called out Tuesday afternoon (Sept 11, 2012) twice within 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

The first call came in at about 2:30 p.m., with a one-ton pickup, pulling two horse trailers on fire the two miles east of Jamestown, at the I-94 Bloom Exit 262, on the north side of the highway westbound.<\/p>\n

An area of grass was burned on the northside of the interstate, between the ramp and the interstate.<\/p>\n

More rural fire units were called out a few minutes later, to a grass fire about two miles south of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

No report on that fire was immediately available.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 11, 2012) — Following the tragic accident that took the life of pilot Bob Odegaard on Friday (Sept 7, 2012), while practicing for the Valley City Air Show, officials are looking at options, concerning the cancelled show, and any future air show.<\/p>\n

Plans for a future Air Show in Valley City are being discussed, and could be held, possibly in another two years.<\/p>\n

Barnes County Airport Authority board member, and Air Show organizer, Lori Jury says, says anyone purchasing Air Show tickets should save their tickets.<\/p>\n

The Airport Authority board will take several weeks to discuss options available about what to do with those who purchased advance tickets.<\/p>\n

Ms. Jury says, at this time no decisions have been made concerning advance tickets or a future show.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Barnes County Airport Authority Board Chairman Dennis Helland asked anyone with photos of the plane in flight, on the ground or during the crash to give them to Barnes County Airport officials or the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Bismarck police have arrested a man in an
\nearly morning gas station robbery.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege the 21-year-old man walked into the Red Carpet shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday and demanded cash and cigarettes.<\/p>\n

The suspect had his hand in the pocket of his sweat shirt, leading the clerk to believe he had a weapon.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The man left with cash and a pack of cigarettes.<\/p>\n

He was arrested a couple of hours later while walking along a street.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – West Fargo police say an officer was treated at a hospital for minor injuries after his squad car was rammed during a vehicle chase.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Monday chase began when Officer Jason Balvik attempted a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

It ended after the suspect vehicle hit the squad car and later sideswiped a truck and then ran into a cement truck.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The driver and passenger in the suspect car both were treated for minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The driver was arrested on charges of aggravated reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n

The passenger was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.<\/p>\n

\u3000BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota lawmakers say local
\ngovernments should be able to keep granting property tax breaks.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A proposal to abolish the property tax breaks was voted down
\nTuesday in the Legislature’s interim Taxation Committee.<\/p>\n

Minot state Rep. Roscoe Streyle (STRY’-lee) supported the measure. He says parts of it will be introduced in the Legislature next year anyway.
\nThe bill sought to abolish property tax breaks that local governments can give.<\/p>\n

It eliminated renaissance zones, tax increment financing and property tax exemptions for new home construction.
\nStreyle says the incentives aren’t needed, and they shift the burden of property taxes to other taxpayers.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dickinson Rep. Shirley Meyer and Fargo Rep. Jim Kasper defended
\nthe tax breaks.<\/p>\n

They say the renaissance zone incentives have helped to transform downtown Fargo.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Some North Dakota Army National Guard
\nmilitary police officers will serve a year of duty at the U.S. Navy
\nbase in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
\nThe 191st Military Police Company is based in Fargo with detachments in Mayville and Bismarck. About 30 members are being deployed.<\/p>\n

Their mission at the high-security prison is expected to begin after they go to Fort Bliss in Texas in late October for final training.
\nMembers of the 191st also have served in Iraq.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Officials pushing for a project to bring
\nMissouri River water to the Red River Valley to protect against
\nextended droughts are losing faith that any federal funding will be
\napproved.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials with the Lake Agassiz Water Authority are sketching
\nout plans for a project that could be paid for solely by state
\ngovernment and local water users.<\/p>\n

But a spokesman for Gov. Jack Dalrymple says state officials still are operating under the presumption that the federal government will provide its share of funding.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $660 million Red River Valley project would move Missouri
\nRiver water to eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.<\/p>\n

It passed an environmental review five years ago but has not been
\ngiven final federal approval.<\/p>\n

MEDORA, N.D. (AP) – Officials at Theodore Roosevelt National
\nPark are moving into the next phase of an elk management program.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Superintendent Valerie Naylor says the park has finished
\nreducing what was a bloated elk herd, and now it will monitor and
\nmaintain the population through the use of radio collars.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Park Service has contracted with an Idaho company
\nto capture between 17 and 21 elk in the park’s south unit and fit
\nthem with the collars. The work is set for Wednesday and Thursday.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The elk reduction effort began in 2010, when officials estimated
\nthe park herd at more than 1,200 animals.<\/p>\n

Park staff and hundreds of volunteer shooters in fall 2010 and fall 2011 killed nearly 870 elk to bring the herd to a level the park can sustain.<\/p>\n

\u00a0SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) – Eleven years after 9\/11, the Flight 93
\nmemorial in Shanksville, Pa., is still unfinished — but that
\ndidn’t keep victims’ families and others from gathering Tuesday to
\nmark the anniversary of the terror attacks.<\/p>\n

Vice President Joe Biden took part in a wreath-laying, and bells of remembrance were rung by family members and people from the area near the crash site.<\/p>\n

Organizers say about $5 million still needs to be raised from private donors to finish the work on the memorial.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 RENO, Nev. (AP) -Mitt Romney says Sept. 11 is a time to renew

\nin deference to one of the most harrowing and unifying days in U.S.

\nto the bargaining table today as the teachers’ strike entered its
\nsecond day. More than 25,000 teachers are on strike for the first
\ntime in a quarter century.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) – Factory fires in two of Pakistan’s
\nmajor cities today have left 39 people dead, and dozens more
\ninjured.<\/p>\n

The first fire swept through a shoe factory in the eastern
\ncity of Lahore.<\/p>\n

Police say 25 people were killed in the fire, which began when sparks from a generator made contact with chemicals that were used to make shoes.<\/p>\n

The second blaze erupted in the southern port city of Karachi.<\/p>\n

A hospital official says at least 14 people were killed and more than 40 were hurt when the fire broke out at a garment factory.
