FARGO, N.D. (AP Sept 14, 2012) – North Dakota State University has lifted its evacuation order.<\/p>\n
The university says it reopened campus at 1 p.m. and classes resumed at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
The university ordered all students and employees to leave campus Friday morning after it received a bomb threat.<\/p>\n
NDSU President, Dean Bresciani says students and workers were alerted by email and phone messages, with a CodeRed Alert.<\/p>\n
The evacuation order called for people to leave all NDSU properties by 10:15 a.m.<\/p>\n
The university cleared its main and downtown campuses following the threat, along with all of its agricultural facilities.<\/p>\n
The evacuation caused heavy traffic in the area, as students and others scrambled to get off school property.<\/p>\n
During the evacuation period, traffic was rerouted around the two campuses.<\/p>\n
A perimeter was established, and students were considered safe outside that area.<\/p>\n
More than 14,000 students are enrolled at NDSU.<\/p>\n
The evacuation order at NDSU came about the same time as one at The University of Texas at Austin, where officials also say they received a bomb threat.<\/p>\n
FBI spokesman Kyle Loven says the agency is trying to determine if the two threats were related.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NDSU ordered all employees and students to leave campus Friday after receiving a bomb threat.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 President Dean Bresciani (brush-SHAW’-nee) says the main campus was evacuated, along with the school’s downtown campus and its agricultural facilities.<\/p>\n
Searches are being made of academic buildings first, followed by resident halls.<\/p>\n
Bresciani says the search process is going well, and as planned.<\/p>\n
The telephone threat was site specific, but officials would not elaborate.<\/p>\n
The only people on campus early Friday afternoon are those involved in the<\/p>\n
\u00a0searches.<\/p>\n
Traffic is being rerouted around the\u00a0two campuses.<\/p>\n

He says it’s difficult to evacuate 20,000 people immediately, but most of the evacuation happened within a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n

It’s suggested that those going to the airport use I-29 and approach the airport from the west.<\/p>\n
