News) &#8212; The Jamestown City Fire Department was called out at 7:20 last evening (Sun. Sept 17, 2012) \u00a0to a home at 403 2nd Avenue, Northwest.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Sheldon Mohr said the was no fire, with smoke in the home caused by plastic on a heater unit.<\/p>\n<p>Fire fighters extracted smoke from the home, and were on the scene a half hour.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>27 city fire fighters were on the scene with six units.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded Friday evening (Sept 14, 2012) to a fire that destroyed a two story barn, and its contents, a car and two boats.<\/p>\n<p>The call came in about 6:50 \u2013p.m., on the road to Spiritwood Lake, on the eastside of Highway 20 at Stutsman County Road 42, eleven miles north of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Rural Fire Chief, Rick Woehl said the grass fire started from garbage being burned in a barrel, and spread to the yard, and then the barn.<\/p>\n<p>Rural firefighters contained the blaze to the farmstead, as about two acres of land was burned.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>Seven rural fire department trucks and 14 firefighters were on the scene about two and half hours.<\/p>\n<p>The was no official damage immediately estimated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8211; Over 100 riders from around North Dakota gather Saturday afternoon (Sept 15, 2012) in downtown Jamestown for a fundraiser for Donald Schwind.<\/p>\n<p>Last spring, Schwind was diagnosed with small-cell carcinoma of the lung and has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for the past two months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The old North Valley Bridge in Valley City is set for demolition.<\/p>\n<p>The old bridge will be demolished today.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge was closed last month and traffic routed to the new $2.4 million North Valley Bridge that\u2019s built nearby.<\/p>\n<p>The new bridge is more than four feet higher than the old bridge, which was closed during flooding in 2009 and 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 14, 2012) \u2013 North Dakota air travel is up significantly, according to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The passenger boarding numbers show a 20% increase over last year, and do not include the additional air travel by general and business aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Minot leads the growth in commercial airports with a fifty percent increase in boardings over this time last year, and the Williston terminal now serves close to seven times the customers from when it was constructed.<\/p>\n<p>Forecasters are projecting growth at record rates to continue, and the Aeronautics Commission is working with state, federal, and local partners to address the large increases in air traffic across the region.<\/p>\n<p>In August this year, Jametown boardings were at 263.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s compared to 384 in August of 2011, a decrease of over 31 percent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From Mary Lee Nielson, Marketing Coordinator, Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway\/Valley City CVB.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. ) &#8212; On Saturday September 22, 2012 there will be a 20th Anniversary Celebration at Medicine Wheel Park in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been 20 years since Dr. Joe Stickler and his chemistry students started building the replica of a Native American calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The first day of Autumn will be celebrated with shows at the Valley City State University Planetarium and at sunset a celebration at the Medicine Wheel. News) &#8212; After Visiting Valley City Public Schools, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that the Food Service Program is exceeding the new federal breakfast and lunch menu regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The federal mandate was operational this year.<\/p>\n<p>A United States Department of Agriculture officials says Valley City Public School\u2019s food services program is above and beyond many other school districts in the nation and exceeds the new federal menu pattern regulations implemented this year.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say more fruits, vegetables and whole grains are served at school breakfast and lunch as required by the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act implemented this year.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Milender, Nutrition Services Director and Dietitian with the Valley City Public School District said, students can expect to see more nutritious food on their trays this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a Utah man has died of injuries suffered in an oil rig explosion in western North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A statement from the Mountrail County Sheriff&#8217;s Office says 29-year-old Jeffery Kinkaid of Nephi, Utah died Friday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williston Herald reports (bit.ly\/V00nY1) that Kinkaid was burned in an explosion on Sept. 4 at a rig site southwest of Stanley. He was taken to a Minnesota burn center after the explosion.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An unattended barbecue grill is the suspected<br \/>\ncause of a house fire in Fargo that caused about $50,000 in damage.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0pedestrian noticed flames in the back of the house and called 911 Saturday morning. No one was hurt in the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minot police say a man suffered a knife cut<br \/>\nto his back during an early morning fight Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say officers were dispatched to a parking lot on the<br \/>\ncity&#8217;s south side at about 1:10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the victim was taken to a Minot hospital.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His name and condition were not released.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say no suspect was located.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say a Bismarck man was arrested twice last week on drug charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 39-year-old Anthony Lamar Henderson was arrested after a traffic stop on Tuesday. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it confiscated drugs and cash.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was charged Wednesday with three misdemeanors and felony possession of hydrocodone with intent to deliver. He was released after another person posted a $10,000 cash bond for him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say they got a tip that Henderson had been going to a storage unit bringing people into the closet-sized unit with him.<\/p>\n<p>Officers found Henderson at the unit with a female. Because Henderson is on probation, police searched his car and found more illegal drugs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His bond was set Friday at $50,000 cash.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Army National Guard&#8217;s<br \/>\nlargest unit is getting a new leader.<\/p>\n<p>Colonel Giselle Wilz has<br \/>\ntaken command of the Fargo-based 141st Maneuver Enhancement<br \/>\nBrigade, which includes more than 1,400 soldiers in units<br \/>\nthroughout eastern North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The 45-year-old Wilz, of Bismarck,<br \/>\nis the first woman in the history of the North Dakota Army National<br \/>\nGuard to rise to the rank of &#8220;full bird&#8221; colonel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota property tax activists are<br \/>\nfighting a judge&#8217;s ruling that they have to pay the legal fees of<br \/>\nsome county officials who were critical of their campaign.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The dispute goes back to last June&#8217;s failed ballot measure to<br \/>\nabolish property taxes.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During the campaign, the measure&#8217;s backers sued several county<br \/>\nand state officials. They claimed the officials were illegally<br \/>\ncampaigning against the measure.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick threw out the<br \/>\nlawsuit. He followed up by ordering property tax critics to pay<br \/>\nsome of the officials&#8217; legal fees.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The measure&#8217;s supporters say Romanick&#8217;s ruling has some factual<br \/>\nerrors.
