THE NEXT CHANCE FOR PRECIP DOESN&#8217;T<br \/>\n\u00a0ARRIVE UNTIL SATURDAY.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Interstate Engineering reports, due to recent warmer weather and resulting freeze-thaw cycles, the bridge on 2nd Street Southwest across the James River is closed and 2nd Street Southwest is closed to through traffic between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue, Southwest.<\/p>\n<p>This area is expected remain closed until further notice to allow sufficient time to make necessary repairs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The recent thaw is beginning to free up ice and some water movement is being detected along rivers.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service in Bismarck reports that the James River through Jamestown has slightly risen from three feet to not quite 4 feet, on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The flood stage is 12 feet in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs, as of Monday, had shown no change in the levels.<\/p>\n<p>Monday observations:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/water.weather.gov\/ahps2\/hydrograph.php?wfo=bis&amp;gage=jmsn8&amp;view=1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1\"><b>http:\/\/water.weather.gov\/ahps2\/hydrograph.php?wfo=bis&amp;gage=jmsn8&amp;view=1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1<\/b><\/a><b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) A bone marrow donor registry drive will be held Monday, March 17, 2014, from 1\u20137 p.m. at the Anne Carlsen Center, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Through a painless cheek swab, potential marrow donors are able to join the Match Registry, which might pair them with patients suffering from diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma or sickle cell anemia. The registry event is limited to adults ages 18 to 44.<\/p>\n<p>The marrow donor registry event is driven by the need of Josh Bond of Jamestown. Bond, a 27-year-old husband and father of two, is stricken with acute myeloid leukemia and is in need of a marrow transplant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police in Grand Forks say they arrested a 19-year-old man on charges of burglary, sexual assault and minor consumption of alcohol after a woman awoke to find him in her apartment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officers were called to the building at about 3 a.m. Monday after the woman reported a burglary. She told police that she awoke to find the man in her apartment trying to pull down her underwear. She was able to run out and call police.\u00a0 She was not hurt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police arrived and determined that the suspect had been staying in the apartment below the victim. They arrested Jeremiah Begay, a transient construction worker from Pinon, Ariz., and booked him at the Grand Forks County Jail.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney information for Begay was not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Texas man accused of distributing chemicals that ultimately resulted in the synthetic drug deaths of two teens in the Grand Forks, N.D., area has pleaded guilty.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Charles Carlton, of Katy, Texas, pleaded guilty Monday to three counts, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury and death. He faces life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the chemicals sold by Carlton&#8217;s company, Motion Resources LLC, were manufactured into hallucinogens and wound up in the hands of 18-year-old Christian Bjerk, of Grand Forks, and 17-year-old Elijah Stai, of Park Rapids, Minn. They died within a week of each other in June 2012.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plea agreement calls for Carlton to forfeit $385,000 in drug proceeds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Alexander Reichert declined comment after Monday&#8217;s hearing.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sentencing is scheduled for May 27.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The oil business is booming on the Fort Berthold Reservation in western North Dakota, but some American Indian business owners say they&#8217;re on the verge of going under and laying off employees.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They say they can&#8217;t compete with other Native American businesses that essentially are fronts for non-Indian companies that want to operate on the reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Under federal rules, tribal companies and members have preference for work on tribal lands. American Indian businessman Steve Kelly\u00a0says \u00a0he thinks about 20 Native-owned companies are unfairly operating as fronts on the reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tribal Employment Rights Office Deputy Director Dewey Hosie says the office listens to all complaints. (AP) &#8211; A musher native to North Dakota is having a good run at the 42nd Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kelly Maixner was in 12th place mid-Monday, in the last stages of the race. Racers are expected to begin arriving at the finish line in Nome no later than Tuesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Another North Dakota native, Ellen Halverson, dropped out of the race last week.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maixner was raised in Golva, and Halverson is formerly of the Thompson area. Both now live in Alaska. It&#8217;s the fourth Iditarod for Maixner and the fifth for Halverson. The threat poses a crucial test for Afghanistan&#8217;s security forces, which are trying to show they can provide stability as the West prepares to end its combat mission. Hopes for a peaceful outcome from the elections were dealt another blow over the weekend, with the death of an influential vice president who could have served as a peacemaker among factions after a new leader is named.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) &#8211; Aviation experts say the Malaysia Airlines plane that disappeared over the weekend will be found &#8212; eventually. It took two years to find the main wreckage of an Air France jet that plunged into the Atlantic Ocean in 2009. And in 2007, closer to the area where the Malaysian jet disappeared, it took a week for wreckage from an Indonesian jet to be spotted. One expert says the plane must have been intact for some time after disappearing from radar. (AP) &#8211; A military judge has decided not to dismiss sexual assault charges against an Army general. Instead, he&#8217;s offering to let a different commanding general and prosecutors consider a plea deal that was previously rejected. The defense has until\u00a0Tuesday \u00a0morning to accept that option or allow the trial to proceed. Before the trial, Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair had offered to plead guilty to some of the lesser charges in exchange for the Army dropping the sexual assault charges. The plea deal was ultimately rejected. Today, the judge said he&#8217;d found evidence that the decision to reject the plea deal was influenced by political considerations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW YORK (AP) &#8211; Peter Lanza says he wishes that his son had never been born.
