Jamestown (CSi) At 11-a.m., this Saturday registration starts for is the 36th<\/sup> Annual, Runnin\u2019 O\u2019 the Green in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The first flight of runners will leave the registration area of the Frontier Fort at 2-p..m., every ten minutes. All participants must be at least 21 years of age.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, founder, Larry Knoblich said, he\u2019s hoping for good weather this year, with 2013 being an exceptionally cold run, that followed unseasonably warm temperatures in 2012.<\/p>\n

This Saturday the forecast calls for a mostly cloudy sky \u2026low 15 high 30.<\/p>\n

He added that this year\u2019s run includes 10 bars, starting at the Frontier Fort and finishing at Shady’s at the Gladstone Inn & Suites.<\/p>\n

Included this year is Los Molcajetes, which has been added after the cards were printed.<\/p>\n

Other establishment on the run, in order, are:<\/p>\n

The Buff, Knights of Columbus, the Elks, the Wonder Bar Sports Bar, the Corner Bar, the Office and the All Vets Club.<\/p>\n

Pre-registration for the 36th annual Runnin O’ the Green is $30, which includes a T-shirt.<\/p>\n

Registration on the day of the race is $10, which doesn’t include a T-shirt.<\/p>\n

Participants must be 21 years old, and should carry their IDs.<\/p>\n

Register before Saturday at the Knights of Columbus, The Buff, Wildside Creations, The Elks Club, and Cork & Barrell.<\/p>\n

Knoblich added that pre-registering allows runners to already have the wrist band and name tags, and go directly to the first stop.<\/p>\n

This year, individuals will be able to register late at some stops along the route, where volunteers from the Elkettes will be stationed.<\/p>\n

Knoblich pointed out that again this year, proceeds from the run go to local cancer patients, to help pay bills not covered by insurance, and the Elks Camp Grassick, which in the past has received more than $20,000 from the run. The money for the camp has purchased beds, mattresses, life jackets and fire extinguishers.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that 13 cancer patients, are on the list, with the goal to give each individual $500 for medical expenses. It\u2019s also hoped that the run will raise $25,000 for the Elks, Camp Grassick.<\/p>\n

Knoblich said this year\u2019s run memorializes Jim Carlascio, a veteran and long-time community volunteer who passed away in July of 2013.<\/p>\n

The 2014 Runnin O’ the Green T-shirt features an Irish flag, and “Jim’stown, ND.”<\/p>\n

First responders will be on stand-by in case they are needed, and all but Jamestown Police Department detectives will be on duty, at some point during the day, either uniformed or plain clothes.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Department, and North Dakota Highway Patrol will have extra patrol units on the highways.<\/p>\n

Last year, Jamestown Police Chief, Scott Edinger estimated that about 62 arrests and citations occurred during the 2013 run, but with fewer participants because of the cold weather.<\/p>\n

Most of the arrested stemmed from urinating in public, 3, open alcoholic containers, outside of the designated areas, 34, minor in possession, 13, DUI, 1, Disorderly conduct, 7, drug arrests 4, and some littering fines.<\/p>\n

Knoblich stresses that any beverage will count, and drinking alcoholic beverages is NOT a requirement, adding to drink alcohol in moderation.<\/p>\n

Knoblich said there will be plenty of portable restrooms and garbage cans out along the route and near establishments taking part in the run.<\/p>\n

He asks that runners \u2018Keep an eye on each other,\u2019 concerning potential vandalism or other illegal acts.<\/p>\n

Bar workers should be prepared to handle 2,000 participants through the event, and bars, early in the run should expect a larger crowd the first two hours, later bars in the run will be busy until closing.<\/p>\n

Motorists, and others need to be patient, with the runners and participants need to careful where they area walking while in traffic areas.<\/p>\n

The 2013 Runnin\u2019 O\u2019 the Green will be back on CSi-10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, with the Retro Replays, starting Thursday March 13, 2014. The 2014 event will be recorded for playback on CSi-10.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Public School District\u2019s Principal Selection Committees \u2014 one for Gussner Elementary and another for Jamestown Middle School \u2014 each met separately on Monday to narrow the field of candidates who applied for the two open positions for principal of the two schools.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Superintendent Rob Lech said there were 15 applicants for Gussner and 16 for the middle school, with some candidates applying for both positions.<\/p>\n

Four finalists for each position will be offered interviews.<\/p>\n

School officials will notify those who were not selected.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The Fargo police department is mourning the death of a longtime officer known for his work in community and media relations.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say Lt. Jeff Skuza (SKOO’-zah) died Tuesday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities say Skuza phoned police dispatchers at about 4:30 a.m. and asked them to send officers to the Holy Cross Cemetery south of Fargo, were his body was discovered.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No further details were released.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Skuza joined the force as a patrol officer in October 1991. He was promoted to sergeant in January 2001 and lieutenant in March 2011.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Police Chief Keith Ternes says Skuza was a consummate professional and his death has impacted everyone in the department. He says a crisis intervention team is available to help employees with counseling and other needs.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 250 students at Trinity High School are spread out among two elementary schools, a junior high school and a church. They had a week off from classes before returning Monday.

\u00a0SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Less than 50 percent of people living in North and South Dakota eligible to sign up for health care coverage under the nation’s new marketplace have selected a plan.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In North Dakota, where 10,394 people are eligible to pick a plan, slightly more than 5,200 have done so during the marketplace’s first five months.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The percentage of enrollees is even smaller in South Dakota. A federal report released Tuesday shows that nearly 7,000 people of the more than 16,000 who qualify have selected a plan.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North and South Dakota are two of 36 states relying on the federal HealthCare.gov website to sign people up for insurance. Technical problems with the website have kept many people from signing up.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Voters in North Dakota’s largest city have rejected a measure that would have allowed the school district to keep its current mill levy intact.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The special election Tuesday in Fargo asked voters to maintain the city’s 139 general fund mill levy, with the possibility of 11 more if needed. The state says school each district must be capped at 70 mills by 2015, unless voters say otherwise.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unofficial results show that 2,594 voters approved the measure, or 43 percent, and 3.486 people opposed the idea, or 57 percent.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – Watford City residents have overwhelming approved a $27 million bond measure to help pay for a $50 million high school.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Superintendent Steve Holen says Tuesday’s vote was 748 in favor and only 83 against, for an approval rate of 90 percent. Sixty percent was needed for the measure to pass.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Public school enrollment in the western North Dakota oil patch city has doubled since 2010. The new school is expected to be ready by the start of the 2015 school year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – Hospitals are planning multimillion-dollar upgrades in two growing cities in western North Dakota’s oil patch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKenzie County Healthcare Systems plans to replace its hospital in Watford City with a $58 million facility. The Mountrail County Health Center in Stanley is upgrading its hospital emergency room and nursing home and expanding its clinic in a $6.3 million project.

\nBoth projects are aimed at dealing with population growth tied to the oil boom in the region

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Watford City, emergency room visits have increased five-fold since 2006. Officials say trauma visits have increased from a couple per month to a couple per week.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A planning group in the North Dakota oil patch says ferrying cars and trucks across Lake Sakakawea could help relieve high traffic and accidents in the area.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Vision West Consortium voted last week to study whether funding a ferry is a viable option. The group says in recent years increased traffic from the oil boom has led to higher accident and fatality rates on highways in the area.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vision West members say the ferry will likely be limited to passenger cars and light trucks. They say excluding semi-trucks, oil tankers and other heavy trucks should spread out traffic on the highways.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The ferry would also help bridge the two sides of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.<\/p>\n

The team is leaving\u00a0today \u00a0at noon for Minot to participate in the State Class A Basketball Tournament, on March 13th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

They will open play against the one seed from the Western conference, Bismarck High, on Thursday at 1pm.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The University of Jamestown Jimmie women\u2019s basketball team is a number one-seed in the NAIA national tournament starting today in Sioux City, Iowa, with the Jimmies first game at 3:30pm Thursday,against number eight seed Roosevelt Illinois.<\/p>\n

The Lakers are the fifth team out of the Chicagoland conference to receive a bid to the tournament, the most from any conference in the country.<\/p>\n

The Roosevelt team finished the season 21-10 with two common opponents of the Jimmies. Both UJ and Roosevelt played Midland and Ashford. Jamestown defeating both, teams while the Lakers beat Ashford and lost to Midland.<\/p>\n

Mayville St. also received a bid to the tournament, opening with number six seed Cornerstone Michigan, tipping off at 10:15\u00a0 am. \u00a0The Comets are the number three seed.<\/p>\n

The old record is $17.3 billion, earned in 2010.
