FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Police in eastern North Dakota say former attorney general Nicholas John Spaeth (spayth) was found dead this weekend.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say officers found the body of the 64-year-old man on Sunday at a home in Fargo.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Investigators say the cause and manner of death have not been determined, but they do not suspect foul play.<\/p>\n

Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Eighth Street South, in Fargo \u00a0at 1:43 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Dispatchers had received a call of a suicidal male at that address.<\/p>\n

Spaeth was a Democrat who served as attorney general from 1985 to 1992.<\/p>\n

\u00a0He lost the 1992 North Dakota governor<\/a>‘s race to Republican Ed Schafer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Pheasants Forever 4th<\/sup> Annual Banquet is set for Forday March 21, 2014, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 spokesman Ron Hemmer said the \u2018cackle\u2019 will start at 5-p.m., with dinner served at 7-p.m.<\/p>\n

He said some tickets will be available at the door, a $50 and includes the dinner an a one year membership in Pheasants Forever.<\/p>\n

Proceeds will go toward the youth camp at Crystal Springs, the ultimate nature experience for those 9-13 years old, where young people learn about wildlife, boating safety, poaching, with information also from Dakota Anglers, in conjunction with fishing at the camp.<\/p>\n

Students from the University of Jamestown direct the camp, in connection with scholarships and credit.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that all proceeds stay local.<\/p>\n

Hemmer added that Pheasants Forever work on habitat. food plats, and work with farmers with information including control burn programs.<\/p>\n

At the Banquet there will be live and silent auctions, and raffles, including hunting trips to South Africa, and a dove hunt to Argentina. The will be 15 various types of guns for prizes valued at $5,000.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) A farmer has donated to the Jamestown Rural Fire Department to help purchase a new pair of structural firefighting gloves for each fire department team member.<\/p>\n

With assistance from America\u2019s Farmers Grow Communities, Michael Carlson donated $2,500 to the Jamestown Rural Fire Department.<\/p>\n

America\u2019s Farmers Grow Communities offers farmers a chance to win $2,500, which is then donated to a farmer\u2019s nonprofit of choice.<\/p>\n

Since its inception the organization has donated over $16 million dollars to more than 6,500 nonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Another round of North Daktoa meetings have been schedule for farmers to attend informational meetings on the economics of industrial beet production at five locations across central North Dakota this week.<\/p>\n

The meetings will provide farmers with economic information and tools to help them decide if they want to grow industrial beets.<\/p>\n

A Valley City meeting is set for Tuesday March 18, 2014 from 9-a.m., to 11-a.m., at the Eagles Club.<\/p>\n

Also on Tuesday the 18th<\/sup> a Jamestown meeting will be at the North Dakota Farmers Union from 1-p.m. to 3-p.m.<\/p>\n

The development of beets as a new industrial crop is a partnership between Green Vision Group based in Fargo and Heartland Renewable Energy based in Muscatine, Iowa. The research component is led by NDSU.<\/p>\n

Industrial beets, also called energy beets, are varieties of beets bred for industrial sugars that can be converted to a wide range of bio-fuels and chemicals.<\/p>\n

Farmers voiced strong interest in growing beets for industrial purposes during January meetings, but indicated that more information, especially on economics, was needed before making a decision.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have identified two 22-year-old men who died in a Williams County crash involving a pickup truck and a dump truck.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says pickup driver Michael Rameden, of Ray, and passenger Kyle Keller, of Bismarck, died at the scene shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday. A third passenger, 24-year-old Blaze Unruh, was flown to a Minot hospital with serious injuries.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the pickup truck ran a stop sign and collided with the driver’s side of the dump truck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and a county road, about 13 miles west of Williston.

\u3000\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota health official says a Colorado company likely will be sanctioned for not heeding a warning to secure an oil well that was swamped by floodwaters near the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Environmental geologist Kris Roberts says up to 1,400 gallons of oil might have spilled from Zavanna’s well site into floodwaters in the area southwest of Williston.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roberts says the spill was discovered on Friday and has been contained. He says no other wells in the area have leaked oil into floodwaters.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say several companies were warned days in advance to secure their wells because of the threat of flooding from ice jams.

VCSU head football coach Dennis McCulloch has named coaches John O\u2019Day and Jake Breske co-offensive coordinators.O\u2019Day and Breske replace Marty Costello, who is leaving VCSU for a job at the University of Wisconsin\u2013Stevens Point. Costello served as VCSU offensive coordinator the past three seasons.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Day just completed his third season at VCSU. He served as wide receivers coach in 2012 and 2013, and was running backs coach in 2011. The past two seasons he also worked as special teams coordinator.<\/p>\n

Breske will be entering his second season at VCSU. In 2013, Breske served the Vikings as quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n

Ban is urging all parties to refrain from violence and pursue a political and diplomatic solution. Crimeans voted Sunday to secede from Ukraine and seek to become part of Russia. The U.S. and the European Union are refusing to recognize the vote.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SEATTLE (AP) – Federal prosecutors say a 20-year-old California man has been arrested near the Canadian border in Washington state and charged with trying to provide support to al-Qaida’s efforts in Syria. The Justice Department says the 20-year-old was planning to travel to Canada before proceeding to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. He’s due to appear in federal court in Seattle this afternoon.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW YORK (AP) – The New York City medical examiner says seven of the eight people killed in an explosion that leveled two apartment buildings died of either smoke inhalation or blunt trauma. The autopsy results were released today as investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the blast.\u00a0 Results are still pending for the eighth victim, who has not yet been identified. More than 60 others were injured in Wednesday’s explosion, which occurred shortly after someone reported smelling gas.
