Diamond had a 5.29 ERA in 17 innings during spring training and lost the competition for the fifth spot in the rotation to right-hander Kyle Gibson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parmelee hit .195 with one home run in 41 at-bats and failed to impress while competing for a backup outfielder spot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Twins decided to go with Bartlett as the team&#8217;s utility player. He only had three hits in 38 at-bats this spring while trying to make a comeback.
