(AP) &#8211; Police say a dog was found dead hanging by its leash from a doorknob at a North Dakota apartment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck Police Officer Pat Renz says a 24-year-old Bismarck woman contacted police when she returned to her apartment and found her small, black dog hanging by its leash from the doorknob on a closet door.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Renz says the woman usually left the dog tied by the handle of its leash to the closet door when she wasn&#8217;t at the apartment. The woman told police the animal had never tangled up.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The responding officer reported that it appeared someone had manually wrapped the leash around the doorknob. The handle of the leash was found unhooked.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The officer didn&#8217;t find signs of forced entry to the apartment or footprints in the snow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; People who contracted hepatitis C in Minot last year are suing the nursing home linked to the illness.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Seventy-eight-year-old John Fenner and 84-year-old Lilas Guttormson are seeking unspecified damages from ManorCare Health Services. The plaintiffs&#8217; attorneys also are seeking to make the lawsuit class action. If a judge approves, it would cover all 44 people infected with the virus that can cause serious liver damage and even death.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Health Department&#8217;s preliminary report on the outbreak says neither the state nor the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention could pinpoint how the patients became infected. Plaintiff&#8217;s attorney Mike Miller contends the nursing home was still negligent in its care of patients.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A spokeswoman for ManorCare did not immediately comment, saying attorneys were still reviewing the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota attorney general&#8217;s office has fined an Atlanta-based company for making illegal automated calls to residents on behalf of the state Farm Bureau.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The office on Wednesday fined Concentric Direct LLC $500 for making robo-calls asking residents who they support to lead the state Department of Agriculture as commissioner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parrell Grossman from the attorney general&#8217;s fraud division says robo-calls are illegal whether they&#8217;re political in nature or not.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grossman says he contacted the company after talking with the Farm Bureau. He says the company was unaware of North Dakota&#8217;s law and agreed to stop making calls.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pete Hanebutt with Farm Bureau says Concentric Direct had assured the organization it would do things properly. (AP) &#8211; An India-based technology company says it&#8217;s expanding its operations in Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tech Mahindra set up shop in North Dakota two years ago in a partnership with Cargill&#8217;s global business services center. It provides services such as information technology purchasing and invoice processing.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The combined operation currently has 170 employees.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Tech Mahindra spokesman says the company plans to add 100 more jobs in Fargo in the next year. About a quarter of those positions will be filled by college graduates in the area.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tech Mahindra is a $3 billion company that earns 48 percent of its revenue from North America.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) &#8211; Attorneys for a serial killer are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to halt his execution until the state of Texas releases information about who supplied its new lethal injection drugs. Tommy Sells is set to die\u00a0Thursday evening with a recently obtained supply of pentobarbital. Texas prison officials say the pharmacy that supplied the drug needs to be kept secret to protect it from threats of violence. Attorneys for Sells say they need to be allowed to examine the drug to verify its quality and protect Sells from unconstitutional pain.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) &#8211; According to the Army&#8217;s top civilian official, the soldier who shot and killed three people and then himself at Fort Hood in Texas Wednesday had &#8220;a clean record in terms of his behavior.&#8221; Investigators today have been questioning witnesses, trying to find out whether there may have been a fight or an argument that sparked the attack. They&#8217;ve also been searching the soldier&#8217;s home, and interviewing his wife.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 EVERETT, Wash. (AP) &#8211; There&#8217;s a mystery facing medical examiners in Washington state, trying to identify the victims of the mudslide that wiped out a small community. One of the 30 bodies that have been found does not fit any of the descriptions on the missing persons list. Officials say the only clue to the man&#8217;s identity might be his gold molars. Authorities believe he may have been someone who was on the highway, or going for a hike. The list of missing people now has 15 names on it.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; The White House is not amused that Samsung is promoting a selfie with the president taken by Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz on a Samsung phone. Spokesman Jay Carney says the White House objects any time the president&#8217;s image is used for commercial purposes. But he didn&#8217;t say whether the White House has asked Samsung to stop using the image. Ortiz tweeted the photo to followers Wednesday. It&#8217;s been resent by tens of thousands of Twitter users, and Samsung retweeted the photo in an ad.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ANKARA, Turkey (AP) &#8211; The government of Turkey has lifted its ban on Twitter. The move came a day after the country&#8217;s highest court ruled that the ban was a violation of freedom.
