(AP) &#8211; A tanker truck hauling corn syrup on Interstate 94 left a mess when it sprung a leak near Valley City.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the stainless steel tank cracked, causing syrup to spill along the roadway on Sunday<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire crews spent several hours hosing down the pavement to get rid of the sticky material.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/kiwanislogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"kiwanislogo1\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/kiwanislogo.jpg\" width=\"145\" height=\"26\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi) 400 to 500 volunteers at the Buffalo Mall Saturday packaged around 190,000 meals for the hungry with Kids Against Hunger.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Kiwanis Club organized the event, and purchased $40,000 in supplies, $10,000 more than was raised last year.<\/p>\n<p>Packaged meals included rice, soy, vegetables and vitamins, put together assembly line style in bags that were then boxed. The meals are water activated to the dried ingredients, which are then boiled and ready to eat.<\/p>\n<p>A portion of the meals will be distributed locally through the Great Plains Food Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Kiwanis Club President, Janna Bergstedt says, groups and service clubs from a the region participated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi ) University of Jamestown Theatre\u2019s season continues April 10-12 with &#8220;Once in a Lifetime&#8221; by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. (AP) \u2013 One man has pleaded guilty and three other people have been charged in connection with the stabbing death of a man in a Fargo parking lot last month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nineteen-year-old Wade Garrett pleaded guilty Friday to felony murder in the March 14 death of 26-year-old Rolandas House, whose body was discovered near a grocery store. Police say Garrett stabbed House multiple times.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors also announced Friday that 46-year-old Arlen Clapper and his children, 19-year-old Alexander Clapper and 22-year-old Tamara Clapper, have been charged with felony murder. Alexander Clapper is also charged with delivery of marijuana.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents allege that House had stolen money and marijuana from Garrett. Police would give no further details on the robbery.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Clappers, who live in Moorhead, Minn., were<strong> arrested Thursday night in Valley City.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bismarck, (CSi) The North Dakota State Health Department of Health says there has been a national recall for numerous child car seats.<\/p>\n<p>Child Passenger Safety Program Director, Dawn Mayer says the recall involves malfunctioning buckles on certain Evenflo\u00ae car seats. The recall includes certain convertible seats and harness booster seats by Evenflo\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p>She says the buckle is difficult to operate, and is not a life or death situation, unless removal is required during an emergency. Because of that, the National Weather Service has scheduled a SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Class on Tuesday, April 8<sup>th<\/sup>, 7:00 p.m., in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The class will be conducted by a staff meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Bismarck. The class, which lasts about two hours, will focus on recognizing and understanding the different types of severe summer weather such as thunderstorms, down-burst winds, flash floods, hail, and tornadoes. Due to federal budget reductions, the last time this class was held in Jamestown was May of 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The class is free and open to all organizations and individuals who want to become more familiar with how to identify severe summer weather. No registration is required. Attending this class does not require an individual to become an official National Weather Service weather spotter. Feel free to invite any others that may want to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man who has been questioned about an alleged murder-for-hire scheme in Washington state is asking for a new lawyer to represent him on illegal weapons charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 James Henrikson, of Watford City, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is represented by a federal public defender who last week filed a motion to suppress evidence and essentially postpone the scheduled April 1 trial date.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Henrikson says the motion was made without his approval and he did not want to delay the trial. A judge has not ruled on his request for new representation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Henrikson had business dealings in the oil patch with Doug Carlile, who was shot and killed by an intruder on Dec. 15 at his Spokane, Wash., home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Seven police departments in North Dakota plan to increase their enforcement of a 2011 law aimed at curbing accidents caused by individuals who were texting while driving.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The police departments in Devils Lake, Fargo and Grand Forks are among those that will be more vigilant during April to keep drivers from sending text messages while sitting behind the wheel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The $100 penalty applies even if the driver is stopped at a stop sign or stoplight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. He faced an intraparty challenge for the position from Judy Estenson, a nurse and farmer from Warwick.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Delegates voted 624-245 in favor of Goehring.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Former Gov. John Hoeven appointed Goehring to the job in April 2009 when Democrat Roger Johnson resigned. (AP) &#8211; Thirteen of the 15 full-time paramedics in Williston have formed a union, a move that has deeply upset city officials.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 paramedics have formed a local chapter with the International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents nearly 300,000 firefighters and first responders in the United States and Canada.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The paramedics argue they felt &#8220;underutilized.&#8221; They say most of them have training in firefighting and could help the city in greater capacity.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 City Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk says those who want to be in a union should grab their belongings and move somewhere else. (AP) &#8211; Spring has arrived in North Dakota, and that means load restrictions on roads.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Transportation Department says load limits will be in effect Monday on all state and federal highways in North Dakota. The seasonal load restrictions typically are first implemented in the southwest and then extended north and east as spring progresses.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The weight restrictions guard against damage to roads made susceptible by the spring thaw.
