Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police reports, three individuals were arrested Tuesday night following a domestic dispute, at 519 3rd Street Southwest, about 7:10-p.m.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says the incident involved a stabbing, and remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

18 year old Benjamin Chopper, received a knife wound and was treated and released at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n

He was also taken into custody on suspicion of simple assault, domestic.<\/p>\n

Edinger said 19 year old Gloria Cruz, was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault, domestic.<\/p>\n

23 year old Paris Chopper,was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary with injury. Cruz and Paris Chopper remain in custody Wednesday, at the Stutsman County Correctional Center.<\/p>\n

Formal charges are pending against all three, with the incident under review by the city attorney and Stutsman County State\u2019s Attorney Office.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a single family residence just before 5-p.m. Wednesday at 915 5th Avenue, Southeast.<\/p>\n

Deputy City Fire Chief, Jerry Kainz says the fire started in the kitchen, and the rest of the home was extensively damaged by heat and smoke.<\/p>\n

Following extinguishing the fire, the house was ventilated of the smoke.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported, with five city fire units and 33 fire fighters in the scene about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is unser investigation.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown High School Drama troupe will present the play,<\/p>\n

Fighting Demons by Angela Hill, of North Dakota, April 14th <\/sup>2014 at 7:30 in the high school theatre.<\/p>\n

She was the resident choreographer for the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre and has worked choreographing everything from fashion shows to swing choirs to high school musicals to local productions to world ranked martial art forms. Her goal is to always provide a challenge for the students who perform her material.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, cast members Christanna Eckstein, Tyler Newton, and Sierra Gordon joined us to talk about their characters, and a bit about the plot.<\/p>\n

In this production ten teenagers find themselves trapped and fighting their inner demons. Cindy play by( Morgan Baumgartner) is hiding a tragic secret, Milly (Kelsey Becker), is fighting OCD, and Cyrus (Nick Mortenson) is fighting drug addiction. Alice (Mikayla Patel) and Lilah (Emily Lauinger) are fighting bulimia and cancer, Tabitha (Libby Kruse) has an abusive boyfriend while Arnold (Jacob Brownell) is dealing with abuse from bullies. Willow (Elise Opp) is struggling with her parents divorce, and Jezz (Julia Breidenbach) is struggling with thoughts of suicide while Eli (Hunter Carpenter)is trying to save everyone in a desperate attempt to redeem himself.<\/p>\n

Trying hard to keep them down are their inner demons played by Zach Mikula, Sierra Gordon, Tyler Newton, Seok Woon Hong aka John, and Jennifer Allmer. Add one angel like character Grace, Eli\u2019s dead sister played by Christanna Eckstein and it\u2019s a challenging ensemble play that allows the actors to show what caused their inner demons and gives the audience a glimpse at the struggle these demons can present when trying to overcome their hold on each character.<\/p>\n

Also working on this production are Jonah Finocchiaro as stage manager, Bekka Nitschke , Madora Pringle, as set crew. Hannah Kapp and Elizabeth Fremgen are doing the lights while Tiffany Olsen is doing sound. Miss Jessica Sharp is in charge of costumes for this production.<\/p>\n

The play is directed by Jay Nitchke her last production before she retires.<\/p>\n

Ticket prices are $6:00 for adults and $4:00 for students and children. School passes will be also be honored.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The upcoming Heroes Dinner, on April 11, 2014, is an opportunity for the Red Cross to recognize volunteers that go over and above in their service to our community.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Buffalo Valley Red Cross Chapter, Executive Director, Beth Dewald said, the event is also an opportunity for the chapter to raise funds to support the services we provide such as assisting a family after a fire with food, clothing, shelter and recruiting and training extraordinary volunteers to serve twenty-four hours a day. This fundraising event is the largest event of the year.<\/p>\n

She said the Red Cross provides community disaster education to help people prepare for disasters.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) A Red Cross project in conjunction with the APP Store, allows users of Smart Phones, I-Phones, and I-Pads to access weather information, and emergency planning preparation, and messaging after a disaster.<\/p>\n

Buffalo Valley Chapter Executive, Beth Dewald says the free APPS are available through the APP Store, or the Red Cross.<\/p>\n

Accessible information includes tornado warnings, weather radio, and information concerning severe weather events, including tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes.<\/p>\n

Another available feature is “I\u2019m Safe,” where an individual may send messages via Twitter, or E-Mail to others indicating their safety, and location following a disaster.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown downtown flower baskets location is expanding this year, and will include hanging 114 baskets on 57 polls, along First Avenue, and 10th<\/sup> Street Southeast.<\/p>\n

The baskets will cost about $11,000 this year to purchase and keep maintained through the summer. Additional donations of dollars are needed, as about half that amount has been raised so far. The flower cost is expected to be $4,275, and the watering depending on summer rainfall amounts may cost about $6,600.<\/p>\n

The flower baskets are a cooperative effort between the Jamestown Downtown Association the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce\u2019s City Beautification Committee, and the City of Jamestown, which provides watering equipment at no cost, and stores the flower pots.<\/p>\n

Individuals and businesses have the option of adopting a pole, each with two baskets of flowers for $150, and smaller donations are also appreciated.,<\/p>\n

Donations for the flower baskets can be sent to the Jamestown Downtown Association at Box 1026, Jamestown, ND, 58402.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Courthouse will have absentee voting ballots available starting May 1, 2014.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Early Voting starts May 27 through June 9, 2014, Monday through Saturday at the Stutsman County Courthouse, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.<\/p>\n

\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Authorities say a 5-year-old girl inside a van that was stolen in Grand Forks was found unharmed.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police were notified shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday that the van had been taken from a grocery store parking lot.\u00a0 Authorities found the vehicle a short time later, and the girl was found nearby.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Lt. Mike Ferguson says the child was checked by medical personnel and appeared to be physically fine.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The incident prompted a brief lockdown at three nearby schools. Superintendent Larry Nybladh says the lockdown was in place about 40 minutes.

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Minot man says he was just being a good neighbor when he sprang into action to help a woman being attacked by a pit bull.

\nJay Hight says he was in his garage when he heard the woman screaming. The dog had clamped its jaws onto her arm.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hight says he grabbed a bat and started whacking the dog so that it would free the woman. He says the dog let go of the woman, but began attacking her dog.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The station reports Hight and other neighbors struggled with the pit bull until it freed the woman’s dog.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minot woman was not identified.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the dog’s owner will be cited for violating Minot’s ban on pit bull breeds.<\/p>\n

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – Authorities arrested a Devils Lake man on multiple charges following an hour-long high-speed chase in the area.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The \u00a0Tuesday morning chase reached speeds of 115 mph, and that about $2,600 dollars in damage was done to the vehicle the 33-year-old suspect had borrowed from a friend and was driving.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The pursuit began in Devils Lake and ended near Crary when the man traveled down a dead-end road. The suspect told police he fled because he had outstanding warrants.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man was arrested on charges including fleeing, driving under the influence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Court documents did not immediately list formal charges.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – The attorney for a Mandan man accused of shooting another man to death early this year wants more time to prepare for a preliminary hearing.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck Tribune reports that the court-appointed attorney for 25-year-old James McKinney on Tuesday filed a motion asking the judge to grant him more time to review the case.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The judge hasn’t ruled on the motion.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKinney has been charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. He hasn’t entered a plea.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKinney is charged in the death of Alex Lansdon, who was found dead January 27th at the mobile home he rented in southeast Mandan. Preliminary autopsy results indicate he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) – Several roads in Walsh County in northeast North Dakota are under water because of melting snow and ice jams.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nelson says about a dozen sites are currently closed. He says two of them are on a county road near Forest River and another one near the Fordville-Lankin area. Others closures are in township roads and minimum maintenance roads.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The Army Corps of Engineers says there’s plenty of room in upper Missouri River reservoirs to handle spring runoff.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But some groups are urging the corps to step up dam releases sooner rather than later, to guard against devastating flooding like the region experienced three years ago.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The corps is holding a series of public meetings in Missouri River states on its plans for managing the river this year. Meetings were held in Bismarck, N.D., and Pierre, S.D., on Wednesday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials forecast runoff at 32 million acre feet – 27 percent above average but well below the 61 million acre feet recorded in 2011. Available storage in river reservoirs is about 53 million acre feet.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that farmers on average now intend to start fieldwork by April 26th – later than the typical mid-April start.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The operator of an oil and gas well in McKenzie County says crews have contained and recovered the more than 1,000 barrels of fluids that spilled from a tank.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division on Wednesday said an unexpected increase in well pressure caused a tank to overflow and release approximately 650 barrels of oil and 450 barrels of brine.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Houston-based Oasis Petroleum Inc. operates the well located about 4 miles southwest of Alexander. The company on Tuesday reported to the state that the fluids had been contained.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota is getting a $3.3 million federal grant for coal mine reclamation projects.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The money is going to the North Dakota Public Service Commission, which has identified three projects that need reclamation in western North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One of the major projects is to remove a 3,500-foot long, 80-foot wall that was created through surface mining near Hazen.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The federal funds for the abandoned mine lands reclamation program comes from a reclamation fee that is paid by active mining companies on each ton of coal.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Since 1981, more than 130 major abandoned mine reclamation projects and numerous sinkhole filling and maintenance projects have been done in North Dakota at a cost of nearly $45 million.<\/p>\n
