Stoudt in Jamestown to purchase a new van, replacing the van that was old and in need of many repairs.

Another “Raise the Woof,” show is planned for February 27, 2015, at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown.

Before that, the 2nd Annual Paw-Sta-Palooza fundraiser is set for November 1, 2014, at a location to be determined.

Jamestown (CSi) — JSDC business development coordinator, DeAnn Brunner, recently graduated from Dale Carnegie Leadership Training Course. The course was held in Jamestown and Valley City for 9 weeks. The course pushes participants outside of their comfort zone, striving them to learn new principles for building relationships. The program teachings participants the 5 drivers to success.

Build greater self-confidence

Strength people skills

Enhance communication skills

Develop leadership skills

Reduce stress and improve our attitude

“To have a friend, one must be friendly. We start by showing genuine interest and asking people about things that interest them. We focus on them as individuals, we ask: Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? We become proficient at building relationships and seize the opportunity to know people better with understanding what is important to them, we build trust.” Dale Carnegie

The course focuses on Dale Carnegie’s Golden Book and the 30 principles for building relationships which are grouped in 3 categories.

Become a friendlier person that includes principles like: don’t criticize, condemn or complain; remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

Win people to your way of thinking that includes principles like: the only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it; show respect for the other person’s opinion and never say “you’re wrong”.

Be a leader which includes principles like: let the other person save face; call attention to people’s mistakes indirectly; always use encouragement with the slightest improvement.

Ms Brunner says, “The course is a really eye opener for a person, it really helps a person see how to best handle those difficult situations and helps you develop the skills to be an effective leader.”

She received two notable honors in the course. NASA’s Kepler telescope detected the planet. It’s 10 percent larger than Earth and orbits a red dwarf star 500 light-years away.
