Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 25, 2012) — The Men of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, along with much help from the Women of Trinity, will be holding the 46th<\/sup> Annual Lutefisk & Meatball Supper, at the church Fellowship Hall.<\/p>\n

On October 3rd<\/sup>, 2012, the meal will be served from 4-p.m., to 7-p.m.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Norwegian lutefisk, and Swedish\/German meatballs, male waiters will provide the meal, which includes boiled potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, cranberries, buns, lefse, coffee and ice cream for dessert.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Jim Fritz, and Billy Rath pointed out that carryout meals are available by calling in advance, Joleen at the church at 252-2841, or talking with Al Wolf at the supper.<\/p>\n

Meals will be delivered at no cost.<\/p>\n

Rath pointed out that meals will also be delivered to Eventide at Hi-Acres, and Ave Maria Village.<\/p>\n

Also at the conclusion of the supper, surplus items will be available for purchase by those in attendance.<\/p>\n

Tickets can be purchased in advance from the church or any Men of Trinity member at $14 for adults, children 11 and under at $4 and pre-schoolers free.<\/p>\n

At the door, tickets are $15 for adults.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the supper go to local and area charities supported by Trinity Lutheran in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Fritz pointed out the supper began in 1966, by one of the founding father, Harvey Jensen, who was also involved in the construction of the church in 1956.<\/p>\n

Tickets will be given away on The Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, on the live morning show at 8:25 a.m., on September 27, & 28, and October 1 & 2.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2013 The old North Valley Bridge north of Valley City, started coming down on Tuesday (Sept. 25. 2012).<\/p>\n

During the dismantling, barges are used to prevent debris from reaching the Sheyenne River.<\/p>\n

Project manager Shawn Mayfield, says the contractor, Industrial builders, will landscape the west side of the new $2.4 million bridge.<\/p>\n

The new bridge is 4 feet higher than the old bridge, to hopefully prevent closing with high water.<\/p>\n

The old bridge was closed during flooding in 2009 and 2011.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Candidates Forum on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at the Valley City Hi Liner Activity Center, Gymnasium.<\/p>\n

Candidates for the District 24 Senate and House seats and candidates for Barnes County Commission have been invited to participate.<\/p>\n

The moderator will Valley City Area Chamber of Commerece, President, Michelle Wobbema.<\/p>\n

Candidates will be given time for an opening statement, and respond to prepared questions from the moderator.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Health officials say 74 human cases of
\nWest Nile have been reported in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Officials say 11 of the cases were reported in Burleigh County. Nine were in Barnes County and 8 were in Stutsman County.<\/span> Last year, the state had four
\nhuman cases of West Nile.<\/p>\n

\u00a0CANDO, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man
\nand woman from Belcourt were killed Tuesday after their car
\ncollided with a semi-truck about 13 miles west of Cando.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the 24-year-old man was driving the car east on
\nNorth Dakota Highway 17 about 9 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a
\ncurve and struck the rear tires of the semi-truck with an empty hay
\nrack trailer.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The car rotated and entered the south ditch coming to rest on
\nits wheels on the shoulder, killing the driver and a 19-year-old
\nfemale passenger. Another 19-year-old female passenger was flown to
\nTrinity Hospital in Minot.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The truck driver was not injured.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No names were released. The accident is under investigation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Fargo grocery store employee who was shot
\ntwice during a robbery has been released from the hospital.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Josh Kleckner and another employee were
\ninside Sunmart Foods at closing time around 11 p.m. Sunday when the
\ngunman entered, approached Kleckner and made demands.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kleckner was shot when he struggled with the suspect.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The investigation is continuing.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Secretary of State’s
\noffice says it has received calls from residents reporting
\nanonymous phone calls falsely claiming that absentee voting is
\nillegal in the state.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency says it has received more than a dozen reports from
\nresidents who have received such calls.<\/p>\n

The secretary of state’s
\noffice says absentee voting is legal in the state and that
\nresidents receiving such calls should disregard them as a hoax.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To apply for an absentee ballot, voters can either contact their
\ncounty auditor or visit the secretary of state’s Web site.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Residents within Mandan’s public school
\ndistrict have overwhelmingly approved a $12.5 million bond issue to
\nbuild a new elementary school to deal with anticipated enrollment
\ngrowth.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The measure passed Tuesday with 78.3 percent approval of the 2,581
\npeople who voted.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Superintendent Mike Bitz says the goal is to have the new school
\nopen by August 2014.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck and nearby Lincoln also are slated to a new elementary
\nschool and Bismarck is getting another high school.<\/p>\n

\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A Grand Forks man has been sentenced to
\nsix months in prison for possessing five pounds of marijuana he
\nreceived the mail.
\n34-year-old Nicholas Rivera pleaded guilty to a charge of marijuana
\npossession in February.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say a postal inspector notified the Grand Forks
\nNarcotics Task Force that a suspicious package addressed to Rivera
\nat a Grand Forks motel had come to the post office.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Postal Inspector Tom Irwin got a search warrant, looked in the
\npackage and found “five pounds of high grade marijuana.” The
\npackage was delivered to Rivera at the motel and authorities
\narrested him an hour later.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple
\n(DAHL’-rimp-ul) says he’ll propose increasing state subsidies to
\npromote affordable housing development.<\/p>\n

The governor outlined the plan yesterday in Bismarck. And he wants more state grants to help cities build sewer and water systems and other public works.<\/p>\n

A new study forecasts a 25 percent jump in North Dakota’s population by
\n2025.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – Senate Democrats are launching two ads in
\nNorth Dakota criticizing Republican Congressman Rick Berg, who’s in
\na close Senate race with Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.<\/p>\n

The ads target Berg over the stalled farm bill.<\/p>\n

A House committee finished a version of the bill in July but the full House hasn’t acted on it.
\nGOP leaders wanted to avoid a pre-election fight over food stamps,
\na dominant element of the bill.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Game and Fish Department
\nsays it’s prohibiting open burning including campfires on the Oahe
\nWildlife Management Area along both sides of the Missouri River.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wildlife resource management supervisor Bill Haase says
\nexcessive dry conditions are making woodlands prone to wildfires.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Oahe is a heavily wooded recreation area that covers more
\nthan 16,000 acres along Lake Oahe in portions of Burleigh, Emmons
\nand Morton counties.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The restriction is in place until further notice. Signs are
\nposted at all entrances.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Haase says the department is encouraging people using public
\nlands along the river to be extremely cautious when conditions are

\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Board of Higher Education
\nwill consider policy changes that would give the university system
\nchancellor more authority.<\/p>\n

Board members are scheduled to discuss
\nthe issue at today’s meeting in Bismarck. Under the changes,
\nchancellor Ham Shirvani would have the right to fire or suspend a
\nNorth Dakota college president for misconduct.<\/p>\n

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority on
\nFriday will name the architectural firm that will design the new
\nVikings stadium.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The authority is working with the Vikings to oversee
\nconstruction of the $975 million football stadium.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Five national firms are competing to design the new stadium.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ground breaking is planned for next summer. The Vikings hope to
\nopen the stadium in time for the 2016 season.<\/p>\n

CINCINNATI (AP) – Reds manager Dusty Baker told his players
\nyesterday that he had a mini-stroke in addition to his irregular
\nheartbeat last week.<\/p>\n

Baker will need another week of rest before
\nhe’s able to rejoin the team for the final regular season series
\nand the playoffs. The Reds clinched their second NL Central title
\nin the last three years over the weekend while Baker was still in a
\nChicago hospital.<\/p>\n

\u00a0UNDATED (AP) – The NFL has weighed in on the call that allowed
\nthe Seattle Seahawks to beat the Green Bay Packers 14-12 on Monday
\nnight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The league says the replacement officials made the correct call
\nnot to overturn Seahawks receiver Golden Tate’s 24-yard scoring
\nreception.<\/p>\n

However, the NFL also said Tate should have been called
\nfor offensive pass interference before the catch but pointed out
\nthat penalties can’t be reviewed by instant replay.<\/p>\n

A flag would have clinched the game for the Packers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt
\nRomney weighed in on the questionable call at the end of the
\nSeahawks’ win over the Packers.<\/p>\n

Obama deemed it “terrible” and declared it was time to get regular officiating crews back on the job.<\/p>\n

Romney and GOP running mate Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin native,
\nalso said it was time to bring back the “real refs.”<\/p>\n

Gambling expert RJ Bell of Las Vegas-based Pregame.com says he thinks two-thirds of bets worldwide were on the Packers, and that sports books took in at least $150 million because of the call.
